Is Nick Carter Gay? Fans Questioned His Sexuality While the Singer Was in a Relationship with a Woman

Nick Carter has faced speculation about his sexuality after social media users turned to Twitter to question whether or not he is gay. However, the singer is currently married to a woman and had a relationship "totally based on distrust" with another female Hollywood A-Lister.

Nick Carter is best known as one of the members of the former musical sensation The Backstreet Boys. Throughout the early 2000s, he was every teenage girl's celebrity crush. However, over the years, he has faced rumors about his sexuality.

Multiple Nick Carter fans have wondered if the singer is gay, and many were surprised to hear that he is not, as the "I Want It That Way" singer has been in a loving relationship with his wife for a decade and was in another public relationship with a woman.

Nick Carter Once Dated Paris Hilton

In 2004, Nick dated "The Simple Life" star Paris Hilton for roughly seven months, and the "Cherry Pie" singer said their romance was a "departure" from his reputation for dating "nothing but normal girls."

According to Nick, the two young Hollywood stars' romance ended as their relationship was riddled with trust issues. "Our relationship totally was based on distrust. She didn't trust me. I didn't trust her," Nick revealed.

While Nick may not be gay, in 2017, his brother, Aaron Carter, turned to social media to come out as bisexual in a since-deleted tweet.

The musician ended up meeting his future wife a few months later through his sister, and five years after their meet-cute, Nick and his wife, Lauren Kitt Carter, tied the knot and started a family. Nick shared:

"And it's interesting because for me to have a strong woman like her, who I love and trust … I knew she would be a foundation and a rock for me whenever times got tough. I knew that I would be protected with her. And we protect one another."

Fans Questioned Whether or Not Nick Carter Is Gay

In 2010, a social media user tweeted, "Is Nick Carter gay?" Three years later, another person asked, "Is Nick Carter gay? Serious question," and in 2015, a third user shared the same question, typing, "I thought Nick Carter was gay."

"I thought Nick Carter was gay??? He has a baby???" another social media user tweeted. The speculation about Nick's sexuality continued for a few more years, as in 2018, one person shared, "NICK CARTER ISN'T GAY?"

Nick Carter Reportedly Did Not Speak to His Brother after He Came Out a Bisexual

While Nick may not be gay, in 2017, his brother, Aaron Carter, turned to social media to come out as bisexual in a since-deleted tweet. However, during an appearance on the "Hollywood Life" podcast, Aaron set the record straight about his words that he felt had been "a little misconstrued" and shared:

"I can find men and women attractive, but when it comes down to it, I think it was a little misconstrued. I see myself being with a woman and having kids."

During an interview following his revelation about his sexuality in 2017, Nick Carter's brother revealed that the former Backstreet Boys member had not been in contact with him since his tweet. Sadly, Aaron's fiancée confirmed his passing in 2022.
