One day, the granddad suffered a heart attack. The woman, her mom, and her sister, were at the hospital day in and night to care for him.

Unfortunately, after three days, the doctors said he wouldn't have much time. The woman's mom called her sister so she and her family could say goodbye, and they arrived quickly.

The Woman's Aunt Arrived to Say Goodbye

The woman knew her aunt lived off benefits. She and her family refused to work, blaming their incapacity on mental disabilities and being obese. In truth, they were just lazy. They chose to scam the government to pay for their lifestyle, which included over-indulging and constantly playing video games.

When their grandfather was still alive, the aunt and her children never bothered to visit. It never bothered the woman's grandfather, as she revealed he was "physically disgusted" with them.

After arriving at the hospital, the aunt asked how much time the granddad had left. The woman and her family chose to be civil by leading them into the room so they could say their goodbyes.

Only one day later, the woman's grandfather passed away. They met up on how they wanted to go about the funeral. Realizing that the woman's grandmother was buried in another town, they decided to have the ceremony there so they could be buried together. It was 300 miles away from where they were, but to them, it was worth the drive.

The woman's aunt disagreed. She and her family refused to drive 300 miles for the funeral and didn't want to chip in as well. Instead, they volunteered to stay in town to watch the granddad's house.

The Aunt Took Everything Valuable

Heartbroken and mourning, the woman, her sister, and her mother didn't think of how big of a red flag this was. They drove out of town and had a beautiful funeral with their closest family and friends.

When they got home, they were surprised to see the grandfather's home empty. "Anything of value was gone and the only thing left behind was some paintings from my grandma," the woman shared.

The woman and her mom confronted the aunt about it, but she denied the accusations. Instead, they filed a police report and left it at that. When they visited the aunt's house, they realized there were many new things around: a new TV, the latest PlayStation, and more. Later, they saw one of their cousins wearing their grandfather's platinum necklace.

Their late grandfather put importance on the platinum necklace because it was something owned by their grandmother. He always kept it close to him, and seeing it on her cousin's neck made her blood boil.

According to their cousin, he bought the necklace from the money he got selling illegal substances. In disbelief, the woman, her sister, and mom left seething.

"They are no longer family! We needed revenge," the woman admitted. So, each time they visited their aunt, they'd take photos of everything new they just purchased. They also took photos of their cousin's illegal dealings, and their uncle's stolen goods connections.

They also took screenshots of them bragging about their holidays and refusing to work. Then, when they had enough, they filed a case report anonymously and sent it to investigators to do their jobs.

A month later, the woman discovered her aunt and uncle had their benefits revoked. They were also facing criminal charges for scamming the government and had to pay restitution.

To make matters worse, her cousin got arrested for selling illegal substances. At this point, the family was left in ruins. The last time they tried to contact the woman and her family was to ask for money. Of course, they said no.

After everything, the woman was left heartbroken after finding out her cousin pawned off her granddad's platinum necklace. She could o longer pawn it back because someone had already bought it.

Instead, she finds comfort in knowing she got some of her grandfather's priceless memorabilia, like his vintage records, army souvenirs, and some jewelry. She never talked to her aunt again and doesn't plan to.
