A mom had enough of the bullies who took advantage of her daughter at school. She wrote about her situation on Reddit, revealing what she had to do after being disappointed with how school officials handled bullying.
A woman's sister gave her 6-year-old daughter a bento box worth 50 dollars. It's an insulated container that keeps food warm the entire day.

One day, the woman unpacked her daughter's school bag and realized the bento box wasn't among her things. She asked her daughter where it was and her daughter explained that her classmate named Audrey had taken it and refused to return it.

The School Refused to Address the Bullying
The mom wondered whether her daughter told the teachers. Her daughter said she did, but the teachers told her it was just a lunch box and that it didn't matter.
She was in disbelief. She knew of the name Audrey because the mom knew she and a couple of other girls constantly bullied her daughter at school.

She's repeatedly visited the school to complain, but the teachers did nothing about the bullying. At this point, the mom was at her wits' end.
"She and other girls always picked on my daughter... To say I was pissed was the least, the next day I went to the school 30 minutes before lunchtime," she explained. She called for a meeting with those involved.

They brought the woman's daughter and Audrey down to explain the situation. Audrey insisted that the lunch box was hers. The mom knew her daughter's name was inside and asked her to open it.
Audrey started crying when everybody saw that the lunch box didn't belong to her. She didn't want to return it even though she'd proven she took it from her classmate.

The Teachers Chose to Side with Audrey
Instead of holding Audrey accountable for stealing and bullying, the teachers asked the mom if the girl could hold onto the lunch box first since her lunch was inside. The mom refused and said they had five minutes to find another container, or she'd be throwing the food out.
However, even after the warning, the teachers continued to argue. Having had enough, the mom took the lunch box from the girl and dumped it in the trash can.
She took her daughter's hand and hurriedly walked out of the office with the lunch box. The teachers continued to comfort Audrey even after they left.

After the incident, the woman called her sister about it. She said having the other girl get the bento box was okay because she could quickly get another one for her niece.
The mom insisted that wasn't her point. "Why should we have to buy something again for my daughter that she already had because some entitled kid wanted hers?" she asked.
The woman clarified that although she threw the food out, the girl wasn't left with nothing. The school offered free lunches; she could have gotten food from the cafeteria if she wanted to eat.

She added that they lived in a fairly wealthy neighborhood, which meant the girl could have asked her parents to buy her a bento box if she wanted it so badly. Instead, she chose to bully an innocent classmate.
After everything, what irked the mom most was the school administration's choice not to intervene. She's gone to the school board several times, and they'd assure her the bullying was being handled when, in truth, nothing was.
The woman would do anything for her daughter – that she made clear. She didn't appreciate her daughter being pushed over and that the adults in charge refused to hold the bully accountable.
Because of the encounter, she moved her child out of the school. She'd instead put her in a school that valued accountability.
People on the internet debated whether the mom did the right thing or went overboard by throwing the girl's lunch. Some felt it was only fitting to teach the bully a lesson, while others thought she was a bully herself.
What do you think she should have done in her situation? Would you have done the same thing?
