Husband Asks Wife for DNA Test on Their Son Who Is Spitting Image of Him ‘Apart from the Skin Tone'

Adjusting to life with a baby has been a rollercoaster ride for a new mom and her boyfriend. While things have been tiring for them, it's been equally fulfilling.

The woman and her boyfriend had been together for three years before they welcomed their son. Things were going well for them, and for the woman, her boyfriend was the only person she'd ever loved. She shared her story on Reddit, not knowing where else to turn.

One day, the woman was putting away dishes after dinner when her boyfriend asked her a question that completely broke her. He asked for a paternity test. The woman claimed that the man asked the question as if he was asking her what was for dinner. It was casual, quick, and nonchalant.

"Our child, apart from the skin tone, is literally his mirror image from pictures I had seen of him when he was a baby.," the woman shared. She was of a different race from her boyfriend, which could have easily been the reason why their son's skin tone was different than his.

The Woman Never Gave Her Boyfriend Reasons to Doubt Her

The woman was stunned. She wondered why he suddenly had to have a paternity test when things were going well for the past couple of months.

Her boyfriend claimed he needed to be sure he was the dad because he needed that certainty for himself. The entire time he was talking, the woman felt so much pain.

During their conversation, her boyfriend made one thing clear: he didn't trust her. He thought she had lied to him and was passing off another person's child as his. However, the woman clarified:

"I have never ever given him a reason to think I would cheat on him."

Seeing that the woman was overwhelmed, her boyfriend said he'd give her time to think about the paternity test. He said he wouldn't go behind her back to do it, but it needed to be done.

He added that for their relationship to continue, he needed to be 100% sure that the child he'd been caring for was his. So, the woman thought about it for a couple of days.

She Agreed to Have the Paternity Test Done

After thinking things through, the woman agreed to have the paternity test. She had nothing to hide – she never cheated and would have never cheated on him either.

However, she no longer felt secure in their relationship because of her boyfriend's accusations. Once the paternity results showed that he was indeed the dad of their child, she'd pack up and leave.

The woman wrote about her story on Reddit to get things off her chest. Her family and friends had no clue she was going through such an ordeal, and she felt it wasn't the right time to tell them because they'd start a war.

When he told her boyfriend that the paternity test was booked, she decided to have a long talk with him as she wanted answers. It turned out her boyfriend had read an article about a man who discovered 20 years later that his three children weren't his. It led him to more articles and podcasts, which scared him.

The woman then told him that when she was angry that he accused her of cheating, she planned to leave. It stunned him that his girlfriend would leave for something so "small." He did not realize the magnitude of his accusations.

After doing the test, the results came in three days later. "He was visibly relieved when he read the tests, and I don't know why that hurt more," the woman revealed. The woman was deeply hurt. She tried to move on from it, but she'd find herself crying at the most random times.

She moved to a separate room and looked for a therapist to help her. Through it all, the woman's boyfriend wanted to continue on as if nothing happened. He spoke of marriage and more children. However, the woman didn't see things progressing after what he did.

After trying to stick it out longer, the woman realized it was a lost cause. She left her boyfriend, and they're settling their issues in court.

What the man did not realize was that the woman had a backup plan in place. She hired a lawyer, spoke about childcare plans, had a supportive family, and had a separate bank account from her boyfriend. She also had a rental.

It's never easy having to leave someone you love dearly. However, the woman thought this was best not only for her but for her child.
