Noah Kahan’s Parents Encourage Him to Be Open about His Mental Health
Noah Kahan's parents have always been open about their mental health and, in turn, have made their son comfortable to talk about his. The singer grew up in a close-knit family and revealed he inherited many good and "trickier" traits from his mom and dad.
Noah Kahan is an up-and-coming artist who has had his parents' support from the start of his career. The singer has praised his father's musical abilities and revealed his mother's talent as an author who cultivated his way with words in his music.
The singer's mother and father were very transparent with their son, including about their hardships, and Noah Kahan revealed that talking about his parents — including the anger he admitted to harboring against them — has helped him better navigate his home life.

Noah Kahan's Parents Allowed Him to Openly Speak About His Feelings and Mental Health
Kahan grew up in a small town and was born into a family with a close bond. The singer revealed he grew up in a home that did not subscribe to the taboo nature of telling your parents about your mental illnesses that other people experienced.
Kahan and his mom and dad spoke freely about their troubles, including the traumas they inherited from their parents and the ones they passed down to him. However, the singer noted that he never blamed his parents for his issues. Kahan shared:
"She (his mom) and my dad always allowed me to talk openly about what I was feeling and my mental health. We spoke a lot about their mental health being passed down to us. And that is how it is, right? You get a lot of stuff from your parents, and mine were always very open about it."

His mom and dad's separation was one of the many themes behind his latest album, "Stick Season," and in one of his songs, Kahan sings, "I'm still angry at my parents for what their parents did to them [...]."
