Tracy Covel Is a Pastor & Dad of 2 – Meet Toby Keith’s Brother

Tracy Covel, the brother of country music singer Toby Keith, appears before an audience of a different nature than his sibling's crowds every week. He spreads the word of God to his church.

Toby Keith's pastor brother, Tracy Covel's church, had humble beginnings with only his wife and kids in their home. His congregation now supports 21 missionaries worldwide.

He is discrete about his relationship with the "American Soldier" crooner. The Covel siblings suffered a tremendous loss when their father was killed in a road accident in 2001. With Keith, the family sued the company responsible.

Tracy Covel Was 'Saved' in 1985

Baptist preacher Tracy married Linda Southwell-Covel, on December 31, 1988. In one wedding photo, Linda shows her quirky side by holding up a can of Spam in contrast with her white gown and husband in a black suit sitting beside her in a car.

On their 33rd wedding anniversary in 2020, he cited a passage from Proverbs and wrote, "I love you, and it's truly been amazing walking through life with you!" The couple has two daughters.

Tracy was "saved" at a Baptist church in Garland, Texas, in October 1985. He enrolled in pastoral studies at Arlington Baptist College and later transferred to Bethany Theological Seminary in Dothan, Alabama, to complete his Biblical Studies degree in 1994.

The Victory Baptist Church of Titusville began with his wife and daughters in Tracy's living room but was officially established on April 20, 2003. The church uses different venues. Tracey often shares scripture on social media.

He is not frequently spotted with his famous brother, but he shared a video from the crowd of Toby performing "You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This" in mid-2023. Tracy and his sister, Tonni Covel, are frequent travel companions.

They went on a road trip that stopped over in the Cumberland Island National Seashore preserve in 2021, and she and 'Mama Covel' joined Tracy and his family on a cruise in September 2023.

The preacher has chronicled his family's travels to Sydney River, Canada, Prince Edward Island, and New York City on Facebook. His grown daughters enthusiastically pose like their parents with touristy points of interest like a giant lobster piece.

His daughter, Casey L. Covel, is a self-described geek. She has contributed to publications on geek culture. In September 2023, she was proud to share a cosplay mask she designed and her sister painted on commission.

Toby Keith and Tracy Covel Cleared Their Father's Name

The Covel patriarch, Hubert "H.K." Covel Jr., died at 67 when his truck was struck by a tour bus in March 2001. Toby Keith said, "I hate to speculate, but I think he had a stroke."

According to the family lawyer, Greg Dixon, the Covels decided to file a wrongful death suit against the operators of Rodriguez Transportes of Tulsa and the Republic Western Insurance Co. on finding that Hubert's truck was hit by a vehicle.

The tour bus allegedly had a brake problem. The Covels aimed to clear the late Herbert's name. The plaintiffs, who included Toby, Tracey, Tonni, and Carolyn Covel, were awarded $2.8 million in damages.
