Avalon Leone Bookstaver Plays Guitar in Her Band & Is Now a College Student

Avalon Leone Bookstaver is actress Rena Sofer's first child from her marriage to director Sanford Bookstaver, and she is all grown up. Like her parents and older half-sister, she has taken a keen interest in the arts.

Avalon Leone Bookstaver drew her first breath in Los Angeles, California, on August 5, 2005, born to Rena Sofer and Sanford Bookstaver. She is Sanford's first child and Rena's second, as the actress is mom to another daughter from a previous marriage.

A spitting image of her mom and dad, Avalon grew up primarily outside the spotlight and maintains that privacy. Now, with a passion for the arts, which ignited at a young age, she's already showcasing it to the world.

Avalon graduated high school in June 2023. Her dad shared a photo from the momentous occasion, marveling at how much his daughter had grown and expressing his pride. He posed alongside her in a casual black suit with a matching t-shirt.

Avalon donned a gorgeous olive green dress and smiled with a bouquet of pink and white roses. "Proudest moment of my life watching my daughter @avaloni3 graduate high school! Where did the time go??" her dad gushed.

Three months later, Sanford gave an update, sharing that Avalon had moved into her dorm at North Western University. Alongside a photo of the 18-year-old — whose IG account is private — all set up in her new second home, he wrote:

"I cannot express how much I love you, how proud I am of you, and how much I'm going to miss you! Carpe Diem!!!"

Avalon Leone Bookstaver Plays Guitar for Lemp Lot

Avalon is part of the indie band Lemp Lot and has been playing guitar for some time. It's unclear when it was formed, but among the members is her childhood best friend Morrie Schonfeld, one of the band's guitarists. In September 2022, they showcased their sound at the Oakwood picnic.

Lemp Lot also performed at Oakwood School that November. In December 2022, they announced their first official show at El Cid on Sunset, set for January 28, 2023. The band shared photos and clips from the event on their official IG page.

Then, in July, they announced their final gig, which took place at The Mint Los Angeles on August 16. That same month, Lemp Lot released its first EP, "The Attic." In addition to her commitment to the band, Avalon co-hosts the radio show "AP Film."

According to its IG bio, "AP Film" provides "advanced film commentary." Avalon's passion for the industry likely started in childhood. Her mom once revealed that they had a bi-annual "Harry Potter" marathon. Additionally, the actress shared a photo of young Avalon at her first ballet class.

Avalon's parents married in 2003. They separated and divorced in 2017 but rekindled their romance in 2019. The couple announced they were remarrying that April. Avalon's mom is known for her roles in "Blind Justice" and "Just Shoot Me!"

Her dad is chiefly recognized for directing episodes of "The OC" and "One Tree Hill," which starred Hilarie Burton (mom to Gus Morgan), Sophia Bush, Chad Michael Murray, and Bethany Joy Lenz. Her half-sister, Rosabel Rosalind, is an artist.

Rosabel graduated with a Master's in Fine Arts in May 2023. She had hosted an art exhibition at the Pittsburgh Creative Corps Gallery the previous year. As a family unit, the Bookstavers rallied behind the SAG-AFRA strike, joining the protests together in August 2023.
