Inside Kody’s Relationship with His Older Children
"Sister Wives" has continued to surprise viewers, with every storyline taking a different twist. The reality show centers around Kody Brown, his four wives (some have since divorced), and their children.
The family has had its ups and downs and has been surrounded by controversies because of their unusual family. And Kody's estranged relationship with his older children is something that fans have been keenly following.
Last December, Kody's son, Gabriel, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Janelle Brown, got emotional during an interview, narrating how his father forgot about his birthday. Gabriel opened up about how Kody called him after he and his wife Robyn contracted COVID-19( Gabriel had contracted the virus months before).
Although Kody called Gabriel on his birthday, the boy got emotional, tearfully recounting that his father didn't mention his special day during the call and was more interested in talking about COVID.
Over the years, Kody's relationship with his older children has only gotten worse. When Kody's ex-wives, Christine and Janelle, met with several of their older children, the kids started discussing some of the critical issues that led to their estranged relationship with their father.
Most children pointed out Kody's other wife, Robyn's behavior, claiming that she was shady. Garrison and Gabriel, who have since blocked their father, claimed that Robyn wanted everyone to give her special treatment.
Garrison went to the extremes of saying they didn't need a father anymore, with Gwendolyn backing him up. Even so, Christine cut them short, stating that every child needed a father.
In a confessional interview, Kody expressed his frustrations with his older children. The reality star shared that he was tired of being around his ex-wives and children, revealing that he didn't want to call or talk to them.
"Sister Wives" premiered in 2010, introducing viewers to the Brown family. Kody, the head of the family, shares 18 children with four women: Meri Jalle, Christine, and Robyn Brown.
His marriage to two of his wives has since fallen apart, and he now remains married to Robyn. He separated from Christine in November 2021, and she has since found love again; she is engaged to David Wooley.
In 2022, Janelle and Kodi called it quits, and Meri also announced that she and the Kody had gone their separate ways.
Now in its 18th season, the show further delves into the fallout and drama surrounding the family. In a recent interview, Kodi reflected on his complicated relationship with his older kids.
While the reality star admitted to having a great relationship with his younger children, he said he felt powerless about how he relates with his older kids, admitting that their relationship had become strained. While Kodi said he couldn't figure out how it got to that point, he noted his focus was to move forward.
