Kayna Whitworth's Flourishing TV Career
Whitworth was born and raised in Colorado. What's noteworthy about her upbringing is that she moved 16 times around Colorado before finishing high school in Aurora. This frequent relocation was due to her father's job. She continued:
"My dad was a high school football coach, and he was just always kind of chasing that dream, I guess, and really ultimately trying to make a better life for his family."
She kicked off her college life at Arizona State University but eventually moved to Colorado State University, where she earned her Communications and Media Studies degree in 2005.
From there, she dived into the media industry. Initially, she served as a morning anchor and reporter at KTVZ-NPG for three years, followed by identical roles at KBCI-Fisher Broadcasting and KBOI, each for two years.
Sharpening her skills, she dedicated another two years to the role of Morning Anchor at KOLD News 13. Now, Whitworth is a journalist for Good Morning America and a network correspondent for ABC News in Los Angeles.
Kayna Whitworth Incorporates Exciting Adventures Into Her Family Life
Whitworth has been married to her husband, Rhett Lewis, for eight years. They happily tied the knot in 2015 in a beautiful wedding ceremony in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she dazzled in a stunning white gown on that special day.
In the world of journalism, Lewis shares Whitworth's passion. He is a SiriusXM host, a radio analyst for the football games for his alma mater, Indiana University, and a network host for the National Football League (NFL).
The power couple are proud parents to two beautiful children—Conway Rock and Wylder Whit. They welcomed their first son in 2017, while their second child was born in 2019.
Whitworth often gushes about Lewis for being an amazing husband and father. In a March 2023 Instagram post, she highlighted his crucial role in raising their children, while during Father's Day in 2020, she credited Lewis for making her dreams come true.
Whitworth, proudly referring to herself as a "boy mom," approaches her parental duties with the same dedication she applies to her career. She treasures every moment, whether it's celebrating Halloween or Christmas, as a family united in love and laughter.
Whitworth loves the outdoors and adventures with her family, from mountain climbing and hiking to camping and exploring the zoo. One memorable moment was their 2020 trip to the Grand Canyon.
She expressed happiness to see their kids having a great time, especially in places with big rocks and open fields. "Luckiest mommy…my son said 'I love traveling,'" she noted.
Kayna Maintains Resilience As She Balances Motherhood & Her Career
Whitworth's passion for journalism started at a young age, recognizing how sports can break down barriers and tell inspiring stories. Like those boundary-breaking tales, she balances her career and being a mom.
She shared that her schedule could be demanding; she was always on call for breaking news and sometimes had to drop everything at short notice. Despite the challenges, she continues to do what she loves to do.
Besides sharing spontaneous family trips, Whitworth shares glimpses into her life as a working mom on social media, such as doing chores, writing scripts, hitting the gym, and packing for a work trip, all while looking after her kids.
Finding reliable childcare at short notice is difficult, and Whitworth often relies on her parents, who travel from Colorado to stay with her for extended periods. She thanked them for having such a supportive network. "We are so lucky," she said.
Whitworth joins the ranks of TV presenters who expertly balance their careers with parenting alongside the impressive Anderson Cooper, Amy Robach, Michael Strahan, Paula Faris, and Al Roker.
