Hoda Adopted Her Daughters
Hoda announced on the "Today" show in February 2017 that she adopted a newborn, Haley. Her co-workers helped her share the wonderful news as she was on the phone, and a picture of her and her bundle of joy appeared on the screen.
"That little girl, Haley Joy, is my daughter," the elated first-time mom told her colleagues from home as she sounded teary on the other end of the line. As they cheered, the little one could be heard crying in the background.
When asked how old she was, Hoda revealed that Haley is a Valentine's baby. Her co-host Jenna teared up as she explained that her child was the love of her life. Kathie Lee Gifford also had words for the new mom. She told her, "You were made to be a mom." She also revealed that she knew about the baby news and admitted it was tough keeping it from everyone.
Hoda announced her second adoption yet again on the show in April 2019. With the help of her colleague Savannah Guthrie, photos of her and her newborn, Hope Catherine Kotb, including eldest child Haley, popped up on the screen, and she said, "It's a girl!"
The television personality candidly talked about motherhood when she appeared on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" in February 2020. She said she could barely remember her life before becoming a mom, and it felt like her life had just started.
Hoda made talk show host Kelly Clarkson emotional as she recalled the first time it dawned on her that she was now a parent. After meeting her first child, someone asked her if she had kids, and she said she had a daughter. The mother of two admitted that it was a "profound moment" because usually, she used to say she has nieces.
