'Who’s the Boss?': What Happened to Its Main Actors since the Series Ended over 3 Decades Ago
The sitcom "Who's the Boss?" was one of the most loved shows in the 80's. It has been over 30 years since the last episode aired, but where are the main stars of the show now?
The sitcom "Who's the Boss?" premiered in 1984. The show follows the story of a divorced businesswoman, Angela Bower, who hires a widow and a former basketball player as her housekeeper.
Angela and her son, Johnathan are joined in their home by Tony Micelli and his daughter, Samantha Micelli. But the businesswoman's hot temper clashes with her housekeeper's calm demeanor.
The hit show ran until 1992, and it became pivotal for its actors' careers. Over 30 years since the last episode aired, here's what happened to its stars since.
Tony Danza (Tony Micelli)
Tony Danza, who played Angela Bower's housekeeper, Tony, never thought acting would be in the cards for him. He started his career as a professional boxer, and for many years, he believed it was what he was meant to do.

Danza dreamed of becoming a world champion, but his life changed when he was discovered during one of his gym workouts. The former boxer landed the role of Tony Banta in the show "Taxi."
Danza still held on to his boxing championship dream, but the title did not come his way, leading him to retire from his boxing career and focus on acting.
Fortunately for Danza, "Taxi" became a success and cemented his name in the industry. But the actor hit a wall when he was arrested for assaulting a security guard in Manhattan. He was charged with 250 hours of community service and three years of probation.
He regretted his actions. After he was sentenced, he confessed, ''I feel like a jerk. They are going to get the best 250 hours of community service they ever had.'' The "Taxi" star found himself in big trouble but worked hard to improve his life.

After his success in "Taxi," he landed another significant role in "Who's the Boss," which ran for eight seasons. From there, Danza tapped into theatre and performed on Broadway, earning credits in many more productions.
Aside from his impressive acting career, Danza is also a father of four. From his first marriage to Rhonda Yeoman, he had a son, Marc. The two were married from 1970 to 1974, but they reconciled and welcomed a daughter, Gina, in 1983.
Danza also welcomed two daughters, Katie and Emily, during his marriage with Tracy Robinson. The two tied the knot in 1986 and separated in 2006, but they only filed for divorce in 2011, which was finalized in 2013.
Danza is in awe of how grown his children are. He posted a photo on Instagram of him and Marc on the set of "Taxi," expressing his disbelief that his son was a father of two, making him a grandfather. Marc and his father also collaborated on a cookbook titled "Don't Fill Up on the Antipasto." which featured 50 of their family's recipes.
Looking back on the father figure he played on "Who's the Boss?" and how inspirational he was to those who watched the show, Danza is proud to have been part of an impactful show. The actor said he might have even been a better father on screen than in reality.
Playing Tony in the show showed him how difficult it is to be a kid, especially in the day and age of social media. But to have a show like "Who's the Boss?," which people look back at, and to see his children and grandchildren watch it has been an amazing thing to witness.
Judith Light (Angela Bower)
Before landing her lead role as Angela Bower in "Who's the Boss?" Judith Light experienced a few lows in her career. Light started her career in theatre; she was doing community theatre while in high school and credited her drama teacher, who founded the Carnegie Mellon program.

The program allowed her to experience the world of theatre, but her teachers saw her potential and encouraged her to go out and strive for bigger roles. So at 25, Light went to New York, where she met casting director Rosemary Tischler, who promised her a small role in a Broadway show called "A Doll's House."
When she got a taste of what it was like to be on the big stage, Light was filled with an adrenaline rush that made her want more. It gave her hope for where her career was going, but nothing she imagined happened. Instead, she found herself unhappy and unemployed.

At one point, she called her father and told him she needed $600 to survive the month, but her father said, "I'll give you three; see if you can make it." Light believes it was her father's way of testing her resilience.
Although things were looking bleak, Light was grateful to have had a therapist. At the time, the actress had an unhealthy relationship with food, and the therapist said her inability to ask for what she wanted showed up in how she ate.
Much like a psychic, her therapist also told her something would be happening soon, and right after leaving the session, Light was called in to be an understudy for a soap opera. She was against doing soap operas then, but getting paid $350 a day made her do it.

Light might have had her reservations about starring in a soap opera, but she loved working on the different storylines on "One Life to Live." However, she knew she was destined to do more.
After her stint with "One Life to Live," things were a bit dry again. This time, the actress asked her agent why she was not landing any roles, and he told her it was because she often walked into her auditions angry.
Light reflected and realized that she had been too demanding and critical towards the people who wrote the scripts. She changed her perspective, leading her to land her role in "Who's the Boss?" where she also discovered her comedic talents.

The journey to landing her life-changing role was not easy, but Light, who is also a big activist for the gay community and spoke openly about the HIV/AIDS crisis, became a name to be reckoned with in Hollywood. She has tapped into multiple genres, including thrillers and horrors.
The actress starred in famous productions such as "Ugly Betty," Transparent," "Shining Vale," "The Politician," and more. She has taken many risks in the roles that she has played, and from the outside, it looks like she's fearless with each character she chooses to play.
But that does not mean she does not get scared. She expressed, "Everything scares me. Life is so fragile". Still, she chooses each role with the intention of leaving an impact on her audiences.

What Light is not scared of is aging; instead, she is making the most of every moment. Recently, the "Ugly Betty" star, 74, appeared in Los Angeles, and fans thought she looked beautiful. Her comments section was filled with compliments, with one commenter saying, "OMG, she looks gorgeous."
She has also been married to her husband, Robert Desiderio, for 38 years, and the actress credits their being apart often as the reason their marriage has lasted that long.

Early in their relationship, Light's husband wanted them to move to California, hoping it would be a place for Light, who was living in New York then, to grow her career. But she could not imagine herself moving to LA and leaving the city she loved with all her heart. She loved the winter and the rain in New York and its overall culture.
Thus, the couple agreed on a long-distance marriage, with light living in New York and Desiderio in California. They both love the cities they are in and would not ask either one of them to leave. "It's been the best," said the actress.

Light and her husband also decided that they would not be having children. The soap opera star explained that they had a very detailed conversation that made navigating their marriage and the future they envisioned together easy.
Danny Pintauro (Johnathan Bower)
Danny Pintauro, who played the role of Danny Pintauro in "Who's the Boss?" and became known as one of Hollywood's biggest child stars then, did not have many credits after the sitcom ended. However, he was courageous to share something very personal about his life during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

During his sit-down with Winfrey, he revealed that he had been living with HIV. He admitted this in 2015 and said that he had already been living with the virus for 12 years.

Although fans got to see less of him on screen, his personal life is thriving. The actor found love and married his boyfriend, Wil Tabares, in California in 2014.
The wedding was a success; Pintauro said the main focus was that everyone was having a good time. Everything looked dreamy and romantic. The reception was held on a hotel balcony overlooking the beach, and the decor had details of seashells, linen, and Christmas lights.
The actor could not have been happier to have found the love of his life. He confessed that he did not think he would see the day he would walk down the aisle. "I knew I would never marry a woman, and never thought I'd see the day that same-sex marriage would be legal, so it's definitely a life-long dream come true," expressed, Pintauro.
Alyssa Milano (Samantha Micelli)
Alyssa Milano, who played Samantha Micelli, is another actress who grew up in front of the screen. For Milano, acting found her. Her babysitter, an aspiring dancer, dragged her to an open audition for "Annie," snagging the role out of 1500 applicants.

Soon, she was loved for her infectious and charismatic character, and at ten years old, she landed her role on "Who's the Boss?" As she grew up in front of the camera, she eventually chose roles that would present her as a grown woman, but Milano was aware that many of those roles required her to be a bit more revealing with her clothing.

Had she been given a choice to set a different narrative for her coming-of-age roles, the actress would have chosen differently, but she said, "I did what I had to do to continue working."
Still, she was resilient and built a long-lasting career for herself. Milano went on to land a role in the series "Charmed" and other famous movies like "Saturdays at Tiffany's" and "Little Italy."
The actress has also been married to her husband, David Bugliari, a Hollywood agent, since 2009. The couple has two children, Elizabella and Milo.
Milano admitted that she had abortions in her 20's but that did not mean that she did not want children in the future. The actress just felt that the time was not right and wanted to achieve a few more things before becoming a mother.
When she eventually fell pregnant, Milano confessed that it was not easy, so much so that she thought her body was punishing her for her previous abortions. But she trusted that throughout the process, her body was doing what it needed to make sure the baby was safe. That trust she had in herself made everything better.
Nonetheless, motherhood has been an amazing journey for Milano. She loves being a mother and could not imagine her life any better. "I'm just content in this part of my life. I have no reason not to be happy. Things are good," she reiterated.
When Milano is not in mom mode or working, she loves to indulge in "some me time." Some of her solo activities include gardening, watercolor painting, and binge-watching reality TV.
The main characters of the hit show "Who's the Boss?" have all built happy lives for themselves. Their journeys to success had ups and downs, but they built lasting relationships with their audiences.
