Ryan O'Neal's Death Certificate Reveals He Suffered from One Illness for Years
Ryan O'Neal's death certificate has officially been disclosed, revealing the cause of death weeks after his son shared news of his father's passing. The document also lists the illness that the actor had been suffering from for years.

Ryan O'Neal, who celebrated for his rise from television soap operas to an Oscar-nominated role in "Love Story," passed away at the age of 82, as confirmed by his son Patrick on December 8, 2023. He was also remembered for his role alongside his daughter Tatum in "Paper Moon."
"My dad passed away peacefully today, with his loving team by his side." He shared in a social media post. "He is a Hollywood legend. Full stop." At that time, no cause of death was provided.
His daughter, Tatum, also expresses deep grief over the loss of her father. She shared, "I loved him very much and feel fortunate that we concluded our relationship on good terms; I will miss him eternally."
O'Neal is survived by his four children: Tatum, aged 60, and Griffin, aged 59, with Joanna Moore; Patrick, aged 56, with Leigh Taylor-Young; and Redmond, aged 38, with Farrah Fawcett.
Two weeks after O'Neal's passing, his death certificate was made public, revealing that the esteemed actor died of congestive heart failure, a complication of Cardiomyopathy, which he reportedly suffered from for years before his death.
Ryan O'Neal was under care at St. John's Medical in Los Angeles at the time of his passing. The disease he battled is known to progressively weaken heart function, ultimately resulting in his heart failure.

The document detailing O'Neal's cause of death listed no additional contributing factors. It also specified that he was laid to rest at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park, marking his final resting place.
