"So I go to my science teacher the next day and I'm like, 'Your genetics test is wrong because my mom and dad both have detached earlobes and theirs are big. My ears are small. And she's like, 'Well, maybe you're adopted.' And I'm like, 'It's not the first time I'm hearing this but no, I'm not,'" explained the TikToker.

While she brushed off her teacher's comment at the time, her path to understanding was fraught with obstacles. Attempts to glean more about her past were met with evasion, her mother's tears, and a piece of paper that bore both their names but revealed nothing of her origins.

The TikToker narrated a series of other events that planted seeds of doubt in her mind. While trying to get my license at 16 years old, my mom would always deny me my birth certificate for some reason. [She] always came up with an excuse. I wanted to get a job like my friends [but my mom] always came up with an excuse as to why I couldn't have my birth certificate," she revealed.

The woman further mentioned, "Basically, my dad gives me money to shut me up about getting the job. He's like, 'You don’t need a job. [If] you need money, I got you.' He's like, 'You want to buy something, I got it.' So I leave that alone."

In January 2014, the woman had a vivid dream that all her siblings were at her place for dinner, including the one who lived out of state. Her mom was in the kitchen preparing food when she went downstairs in the living room, baffled to see the earnestness on their faces.

Her mother's words, "You know, I've always felt like you're my daughter. It doesn't matter if I didn't give actual birth to you," shattered the illusion of her identity, leaving her stunned and disoriented.
