Swank took her time before having children, contemplating whether she would find the right partner to start a family with. However, her husband, Philip Schneider, whom she married in August 2018, left no room for doubt.

Swank shared openly, mentioning she didn't really have any big expectations about motherhood — she links it to her age and experience. Expectations tend to lead to disappointment, the actress believes.

However, being a mom has been better than she imagined. Despite the inevitable challenges of sleepless nights and early mornings, Swank expressed gratitude for this wonderful journey.

"That's something that age has given me. I think when you have expectations you're always let down. But in this case, I don't think I would have been let down. I don't think I would have ever expected how great it would be," Swank said.

Through the sleepless nights and endless diaper changes, Swank remains grateful for every moment spent with her little ones. "I look in their eyes and it's like angels," she admitted.

Swank opened up about the rollercoaster ride of emotions that come with late-in-life parenting. In her interview, she marvels at the unexpected blessings of having kids at this stage.

"I have a completely new sense of purpose, and that is so beautiful and such a gift. I think, for me, I feel blessed to be able to have babies, you know, this late in life. But it's also a blessing because I had so much time to focus on my career, which was another 'baby' of mine," the actress shared.

Swank can focus on raising her little ones by her side while maintaining control over her career. "And I am in a blessed position of being able to work when I want to work. So to be able to take that time to really be with them in those formative and important early days, really," the actress continued.

She has teamed up with HealthyBaby, a brand she discovered during her extensive search for the ideal diapers for her children. Together, they aim to prioritize health, safety, and superior quality in creating environments for babies right from the start of life.

Swank's caption expressed her excitement about upcoming talk shows where she plans to discuss her new film and a partnership, choosing this special day to share her "two little loves" with her audience. She also jokingly asked followers who else's children thought they could eat sand.

The post, revealing her children's names almost a year after having them, garnered mixed reactions from Swank's, with some thinking their names were beautiful while others could not understand Swank's son's name and even argued about its origins.

The names chosen by Swank, which she shared in this post, carry profound meanings. For her daughter, she chose Aya, a name of Hebrew origin signifying "colorful, bird, sign." Her son's name, Ohm, is equally significant, drawing from Hindu tradition to denote "Primordial Sound."

Followers reacted to finally learning her children's names, with one saying that Ohm was a German surname and should not be used as a first name, but another German native said they had "never heard of it." Another clarified that Ohm was "the sound you'd hear someone reciting during meditation." Many followers shared their confusion about Swank's children's names in the comments of her photo.

Many fans talked about how old Swank would be at different stages of her children's lives, saying she would be 70 before her children graduated college or sixty when her children were twelve. Another couldn't imagine their 72-year-old mother being a mother to younger children while someone berated:

"So [she] will be 66 when they graduate high school — talk about a generation gap. It is very selfish on her part."

While Swank received a lot of criticism for her decision to welcome children so late in life, some sent her messages of support and congratulations, saying they couldn't wait to see the twins.
