Inside Hilary Swank’s Private Mountain Home Where She Lived While Pregnant with Now Infant Twins
Hilary Swank became a first-time mom at 48 following the birth of her twin children. The actress spent much of her pregnancy at their dream home in the mountains completed almost 3 years ago.
Hilary Swank, the two-time Oscar-winning actress, and her husband, Philip Schneider, started their parenting journey in April when they welcomed their twins, a boy and a girl. "It wasn't easy. But boy (and girl!) was it worth it. 👼🏼🤍👼🏼 Happy Easter! 🐣🐣 Posting from pure Heaven. 🙌🏽," she effused on social media.
Swank confided that motherhood had been her dream since her tender years. However, a bustling career and the quest for the right partner kept this dream at bay until Schneider stole her heart.
The actress announced the arrival of their bundles of joy on April 9, a poignant date just a week shy of her late father, Stephen Swank's birthday on April 16. Hilary fondly shared, "It's beautiful. It's all aligning, and my dad, he was one of my favorite people in the world, so it is kind of like… this tribute of life with them being born on this birthday."
Keeping the twins' private life away from the spotlight, their names remain a mystery. The couple built their retreat in the untamed beauty of southwest Colorado before welcoming their children.
Hilary Swank's Colorado Sanctuary Is a Nature Lover's Utopia
With four residences, including a New York brownstone, a New York apartment, and an L.A. home, her Colorado haven has a special place in the actress' heart.
In collaboration with One Architects, Inc.'s Jodie and Bruce Wright, Swank's eco-luxury abode blends well amid the Colorado Rockies. Local masons crafted the stone walls, intertwining rustic charm with modern aesthetics.
The home's entrance, bedecked with a bedrock wall, weaves the splendor of nature throughout the interior. Her custom-made windows create panoramic vistas, with the masonry crafting a natural tapestry.
"We watch the sunrise and it's downright magical. But I think it is sunset in the summer—when all the windows are open and you really have that in and out of nature feel—[that] is magic," she revealed.
One of Swank's favorite areas of the house, the dining room unfurls into an indoor-outdoor sanctuary, cradling one of the many fireplaces. The expansive portion of their home reveals a covered porch perfect for dining and lounging, even in the middle of winter.
In the kitchen, wood, black tones, and stone converge. Another snug fireplace beckons near the breakfast nook, making morning coffee a rendezvous with nature.
The primary bedroom boasts a private deck, while the adjoining bathroom and closet are nothing short of regal. With custom carpeting and a leather daybed, it's a winter haven. The bathtub is perfectly positioned for mountain gazing.
For Swank, This Hideaway Is a Dream Come True
The "Alaska Daily" star confessed that securing land in nature's lap had been a dream since her mid-20s. "I find nature to be my happiest place, and animals are my other happiest place. And to be with both of them is everything to me," she mused. The family lives with their four rescued dogs.
This 168-acre idyll materialized in 2016 when Swank and Schneider discovered the land. They broke ground in July 2018, but the pandemic hindered the home's completion. But everything eventually fell into place, and they moved into their finished house in August 2020.
Nestled among the towering mountains with nary a neighbor for miles, Swank and Schneider's twins can one day explore their property's wonders and be close to nature.
