On July 7, 2017, a significant date marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey for the girls. Their mother, Jaqi, now their manager, decided to introduce them to modeling on their 7th birthday. What followed was nothing short of a whirlwind.

"Somehow overnight they are named 'The Most Beautiful Twins in the World' and catapult into a very successful career in no time," Jaqi recalled on the twins' website, where she often shares updates about their rise to fame.

The first image that Jaqi shared of the twins was a photo of the pair donning matching white lace dresses with black hats. 7 years side by side. #happybirthday #toyou #tome #tous," the proud mom captioned the social upload at the time.

This pivotal moment set the stage for an unexpected adventure in the world of fashion and social media. The twins' striking appearance quickly resonated with audiences worldwide, leading to a meteoric rise on Instagram.

"In a little over 2 months time, the girls had their first 1000 followers. Then exactly 3 months after I started their Instagram account, they hit 3000 followers," Jaqi, who has over 200,000 followers on the same platform, explained.

She was stunned by how fast the twins' pictures had gained traction on the platform. From the same day professional headshots were shared, Ava and Leah's following surged from 3,000 to 15,000 in just seven days, eventually reaching over 2 million followers.

"It was like a wild fire," Jaqi said of the rapid growth of the children's online presence. She could not believe how speedily the twins' Instagram page was growing. "I remember thinking... is this normal? Is this a glitch? Am I going to wake up tomorrow and all of these followers will just be gone? It almost seemed too good to be true," Jaqi recounted.

She explained that although she was initially a novice on social media, she started to observe what worked, in terms of pictures, that caught people's attention the most. From her observation, the girls' photos together did exceptionally well online compared to their solo shots.

In the first few months of launching Ava and Leah's Instagram account, people asked Jaqi how she managed to get her daughters such a huge following in a short space of time. The mother admitted that in the beginning, she had "NO idea," as she had no prior experience using the social media app.

According to the adoring mom, Ava and Leah's genuine, loving nature has endeared them further to fans and colleagues alike. "My girls are easy and love everyone! In fact, they meet a new 'friend' for 10 minutes at an audition or a shoot and are already asking me if this new friend can be their cousin," she lamented, highlighting the twins' warm personalities.

This charming characteristic illustrates the twins' ability to form quick connections, further fueling their popularity. Ava and Leah's careers have since flourished beyond social media.

They've been featured in prestigious publications such as Harper's Bazaar Brazil, Vanity Fair Italia, Maven, and InStyle. The dynamic duo has also collaborated with high-profile brands, including Levi's and Converse, and department stores such as Macy's, and Nordstrom.

In a May 2019 interview, Jaqi reflected on the twins' success since opening an Instagram page for them. "This past year has been really fun and exciting for Ava and Leah. Whether it be private shopping experiences, gifted merchandise from brands all over the world, or taking pictures with fans, the girls have had an amazing ride so far," said the loving mom.

For Ava and Leah, what is more important for the children is the friends they've made along their journey. Despite their success, Jaqi ensures they lead balanced lives, prioritizing education and normal childhood activities alongside their careers.

If the girls happen to bag a gig through Instagram, their beloved mother ensures that she schedules it for the weekend or right after school. In doing this, Ava and her sister Leah do not have to miss class, but if they book a job through their agency, their mom sees to it that there is a teacher on set to assist them with their school work.

On the days that they're working, Ava and Leah, along with their mother, drive to Los Angeles for two hours, where most of their gigs are. After they're done, Jaqi often surprises her girls by planning lunch or dinner with their friends in LA.

"On days they aren’t working, they go to school and then usually go to swim practice, dance class, or play outside with their friends in the neighborhood," she explained.

One of the twins, Leah, has even given followers a glimpse into her personal space which was renovated by Pottery Teen Barn. In January 2024, she showed off her remodeled bedroom, which features wooden floors, a pink wallpaper with matching bedding and some white furniture and lots of storage space.

This delicate balance between their professional and personal lives shows the Clements family's commitment to maintaining a sense of normalcy amidst the whirlwind of fame.

However, the family faced a daunting challenge when Kevin Clements, the girls' father, was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma in 2019. Jaqi openly discussed her husband's health woes on the kids' website, recounting the dreadful phone call the family received regarding Kevin's diagnosis.

"I’ll never forget the call from the doctor after she had read his CT Scan...“ the GOOD news is that it’s not a blood clot, however, we did find a mass, a large mass, and you need to admit yourself to the hospital ASAP," she remembered.

Initially, they believed that Kevin was suffering from a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in his lungs). But it turned out that he had an aggressive form of cancer instead. This period of adversity brought the family closer, reinforcing their resilience and determination to face life's trials together.

Ava and Leah, then 10 years old, supported their father. In February 2020, the girls were pictured with their parent at the hospital, with the two of them wearing face masks. They were happy to see him.

A week later, the twins visited their dad again at the hospital and the trio posed together, with their arms wrapped around each other. According to the girls, it was a good day seeing their beloved father.

At the end of that same month, Ava and Leah were glad to have their dad home to celebrate his special day with him. Kevin, now a cancer survivor, marked his 40th birthday at the time. The struggle with Kevin's health brought a sobering reminder of the fragility of life, even as the twins' careers soared to new heights.
