According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the crash occurred on U.S. Route 61 in Canton, Missouri, at approximately 11:25 p.m. on November 12, 2024.

Wrobel, who was driving a 2008 model Honda Accord southbound in the northbound lane, collided with a 2017 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by a 35-year-old man from Minnesota, who was unharmed. The semi-truck went through the median and came to a stop in the northbound lane, while Wrobel's car came to rest in the median.

The message, translated from Polish, read, "Antek…This wasn't how your American adventure was supposed to end. It was far too short…Thank you for every game in the Eagles colors, for your smile, sense of humor, the incredible passes for touchdowns, and for every victory we achieved thanks to you. He talked about playing back in Poland for spring and summer ball. Never a dull moment with Tony. He will be missed here in the states [sic]," read a friend's comment.
