
14-Year-Old Camden Trail Tragically Dies After Accident at Practice – Details
What began as a routine motocross practice turned into a devastating tragedy when a 14-year-old boy lost his life in a midair collision, leaving his family and community in mourning.
Camden Trail, a motocross rider from Bassett, Virginia, died on Friday, June 7, following a tragic accident during a routine practice session at East Bend Motorsports in North Carolina.

According to a statement shared by the track, the fatal incident occurred when Camden and another rider collided in midair at the finish line jump:
"This was a tragic accident that happened when 2 riders got together in the air on the finish line jump. Neither one was at fault that we can tell after reviewing our cameras, it was purely a tragic incident."

The team at East Bend Motorsports confirmed that immediate medical attention was given. Track responder Travis Rominger reached Camden quickly, and paramedics attempted to resuscitate him for nearly an hour. Unfortunately, the young rider did not survive.
Camden was remembered not only as a skilled rider but also as a spirited teen who embraced every moment. According to his obituary, "He was fearless, kind-hearted, full of joy and laughter," and was known for his kindness, joyful energy, and signature smile.
He was born April 6, 2011, in Roanoke, Virginia, to Calvin William "C.W." Trail and Stephanie Lenviel Trail. He is preceded in death by his five siblings, maternal grandmother, paternal grandmother, paternal grandfather, and aunt.

Camden loved anything with a motor and was a passionate outdoorsman. He enjoyed motocross, mountain biking, jet-skiing, and lawn care, even running his own small business.

Camden’s funeral service was held on Monday, June 10, at First Baptist Church, Bassett, Virginia. The motocross community, friends, and loved ones came together to celebrate his life and support the Trail family during this devastating time.

In the wake of his passing, East Bend Motorsports launched a GoFundMe campaign to support Camden’s family with funeral costs and future memorial plans. The funds will also go toward establishing a permanent tribute at the track.
In honor of Camden’s life and legacy, the venue will be hosting the first annual "Cam" Memorial Shoot-Out Race next year, on June 6, 2026. A commemorative plaque is also being planned for installation at the finish line jump, where the accident occurred.
East Bend Motorsports also shared a touching tribute on their Facebook page. According to the post, the lives of many have been saved through Camden's story. The post also showcased the massive support Camden's family received from members of their community during his funeral service.
Meanwhile, two years before Camden died, his mother, Stephanie Trail, shared a post where she wished him a happy birthday. She also described him as a child who has "brought so much happiness into so many lives," while praying that God continues to grant him good health and happiness.
Though Camden's journey was heartbreakingly brief, the impact he made in just 14 years will ripple through his family, friends, and the motocross world for a lifetime. In honoring his memory with races, tributes, and shared stories, Camden's legacy will continue to ride strong.
