King Charles III's recent appearance, which has netizens concerned and filled with questions, is similar to how his late mom looked at past events.

On July 8, 2025, French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, embarked on a state visit to the UK, where they were formally welcomed by the King and Queen of England.

King Charles III appeared dapper in a tailored, royal blue suit with a white-and-sky blue patterned tie and matching pocket square. The ensemble was subtly adorned with a violet boutonnière pinned to his lapel.

Standing by his side, Queen Camilla exuded classic elegance in a vibrant, emerald green dress and matching wide-brimmed hat. She completed her outfit with a string of pearls, gloves, and a silver clutch.

The royal couple looked poised as they interacted with their visiting guests, also dressed formally for the occasion, during the official proceedings. Yet, it wasn't the fashion choices that ultimately caught the public's attention.

In a series of photographs taken during the state visit, the king's right eye appeared markedly bloodshot — a vivid red hue clouding the otherwise composed expression on his face. The visible discoloration became even more prominent in a TikTok video shared by The Sun.

The short clip showed the monarch clasping his hands while flanked by soldiers and high-ranking officials before engaging with the French president and other attendees, including Prince William.

As the camera zoomed in, the reddened eye came into sharp focus, leaving viewers visibly taken aback by its raw appearance.

The Sun captioned the footage with a straightforward update — "King Charles has been spotted with a burst blood vessel in his eye ahead of welcoming Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron. It is understood the Monarch's right eye was affected overnight, and is said to be unrelated to any other health conditions."

Charles III's visibly reddened eye didn't go unnoticed by the public, especially online, where royal watchers were quick to voice both worry and curiosity. A flurry of netizens drew immediate comparisons to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was seen with similar discoloration at different events, years before she died.

"Didn't this happen to the queen as well?" asked one viewer, while another reiterated, "Didn't the late queen [sic] Elizabeth have this before she died?" Someone else pointed out, "Queen Elizabeth had this not too long before she died x," echoing the cautious déjà vu that seemed to linger beneath many of the remarks.

"His mother suffered from them as well," added another royal follower. Others chimed in with similar recollections.

However, not everyone jumped to concern over the eye's visual impact — some tried offering more grounded explanations, with one commenter suggesting that it could be the result of something as ordinary as a forceful eye rub. They also speculated on factors like age and blood-thinning medications, which could make someone more prone to burst vessels.

Still, there were those who appeared genuinely alarmed by the king's appearance, with one netizen bluntly noting, "The other one is yellow, not a good sign." Another struck a more emotional tone, writing, "Oh my.. How can he Function. [sic]."

Yet amid the concern and speculation, others used the moment to highlight Charles III's unwavering sense of duty. "Even with a bloodshot eye, King Charles shows up duty [sic] over discomfort. Say what you want, but that's old-school royal grit," opined a spectator.

"Shows true dedication and strength. Wishing King Charles good health as he continues to fulfill his royal duties with grace," another penned, casting King Charles III in a light of perseverance rather than frailty.
