Details Emerge on the Case of Missing Child Emmanuel Haro – Here's What We Know So Far
A reported assault in a Southern California parking lot left a seven-month-old boy missing and triggered an active, widening investigation by authorities.
The disappearance of seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro from a Yucaipa parking lot has prompted an investigation as authorities explore all possible scenarios, including foul play. The case began on Thursday evening, August 14, 2025, when deputies responded to a report of a missing child in the 34500 block of Yucaipa Boulevard.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department (SBSD), Emmanuel's mother, Rebecca Haro, said she was outside her vehicle changing her son's diaper when a man approached, assaulted her, and rendered her unconscious. When she regained consciousness, Emmanuel was gone.
In a follow-up interview with ABC News, she described the moment just before blacking out, "And somebody said, 'Hola,' and that's all I remember. I saw white, and I fell on the floor, and as soon as I got up, I couldn't find my son. I checked all around my truck."
Deputies and K9 units from San Bernardino and Riverside Counties conducted an extensive search that evening, but the infant was not found. The Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division later took over the case.
During interviews with investigators, both parents were questioned. Authorities said inconsistencies emerged in Rebecca's account, and she declined to continue speaking. Officials noted that foul play could not be ruled out.
Earlier that week, Rebecca also issued a public plea, "Just give him back to me. Please, don't harm my son."
On August 22, authorities arrested Jake and Rebecca Haro at their home in Cabazon on suspicion of murder. However, the search for Emmanuel remains ongoing.
