Actor and Photographer Brad Everett Young Dead at 46 After Horrific Crash with Wrong-Way Driver
Brad Everett Young, known for his red carpet photography and arts advocacy, has left a void in Hollywood and beyond, with tributes pouring in from stars and collaborators who called him a creative force to be reckoned with.
It was supposed to be just another quiet Sunday evening in Los Angeles. But instead, the glittering world of Hollywood was plunged into shock and grief after beloved celebrity photographer and actor Brad Everett Young was killed in a devastating freeway crash that has left family, friends, and stars reeling.

The 46-year-old, celebrated for capturing the raw spirit of some of the world's biggest names, was struck down on the 134 Freeway when a wrong-way driver smashed into his car.
He had just left a movie and was driving alone. He died at the scene. The other driver, miraculously, survived and remains hospitalized.

Young's heartbroken publicist, Paul Christensen, confirmed the tragedy, saying, "Brad's passion for both the arts and the people behind them was unmatched."
"He lived his mission of keeping creativity alive, and his legacy will continue through Dream Loud Official. His family asks for your prayers and thanks you for their privacy at this time," Christensen continued.

A Life Shaped by Creativity
Born on July 24, 1979, in Danville, Virginia, Young was the middle of three children. His love for the arts was ignited by his parents — something he reflected on fondly.
"I started so young that I feel like I could have been born with a paint brush in my hand," he once said. "My parents gave us coloring and painting supplies, and so much more, when my siblings and I were so young."

"I remember being just as excited about all the paint supplies, coloring books, etcetera, they would give us for Christmas just as much as toys. They were brilliant for encouraging us to be so creative while having fun and being kids at the same time," he continued.
After graduating from Chatham High School and Averett University, where he excelled in student media, he moved to Los Angeles with the intention of studying medicine. But it was his artistic fire that ultimately led him to acting, and later to photography, where he built a name that blended glamour with genuine humanity.

His Enduring Legacy
Perhaps his most powerful achievement was the creation of Dream Loud Official, a groundbreaking initiative to protect arts and music programs in public schools.
Young launched the campaign after learning how devastating budget cuts were robbing children of creative outlets that had once shaped his own childhood.

"Dream Loud came about a little over two years ago — actually closer to three now — when I learned about so many schools losing art and music programs," Young explained in 2016. "Art and music programs in schools ultimately changed my life. I couldn't even imagine not having those programs growing up."
He further warned of the urgency of 2016's uncertain times, "It's such a crazy world we live in now, and I feel like the next generation needs these art and music programs more than ever. If nothing else, let it be an escape and get those emotions out that need to be expressed."

Hollywood Stunned by Sudden Loss
Young's sudden death has shaken Hollywood, where he was a fixture on red carpets and in the most exclusive photo pits. His vibrant portraits appeared in The Hollywood Reporter, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, People, and Variety — each frame reflecting the artistry that made him stand apart.
But friends and collaborators remember him as more than a photographer. Actor Jack Schumacher, who worked with Young on the Dream Loud campaign, praised, "Brad is an amazing photographer."

"Every time I've ever shot with him, it has been a total blast. That is one of the fun things about doing different shoots with different people; they all have their unique style and distinct vision. Brad Everett Young is just awesome to work with," Schumacher added.
Another collaborator, actor Tanner Stine, recalled, "Brad's Dream Loud campaign is cool. I didn't know what I was getting myself into. It was a fun deal for sure, and it's for an important cause."

A World Darker Without Him
In light of Young's recent passing, actor Chris L. McKenna reflected with heartbreak, "I'm in complete shock. We just did a shoot a couple weeks ago and we texted this weekend."
"Brad was such a talented, funny, warm, caring guy. He donated his time, his talent, he raised money for underserved schools and the world is darker today without his light. Rest easy, bud," he added.

Actress Lilly Melgar also shared her grief in a deeply personal tribute that read, "My heart aches as your life has been taken far too soon .. I can't even begin to make sense of it … [sic]."
She added poignantly, "Thank you for always making me feel seen, special, and celebrated. [...] Rest in paradise my friend. Heaven has truly gained an angel."
Young leaves behind his brother, Chris, and a devastated community of loved ones. Hollywood may glitter with lights, but without his lens, it feels undeniably dimmer.
