'Loose Women' Star Coleen Nolan's Five-Week-Old Grandson Rushed to A&E
As the presenters debated whether the public is taking the flu seriously, she revealed how the virus had swept through her family — leaving her son unwell and his newborn in need of urgent medical care.
Coleen Nolan has shared the frightening moment her newborn grandson was rushed to A&E, revealing the ordeal during a live broadcast of "Loose Women" on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

The television personality, 60, recounted the incident while appearing on the ITV panel show alongside Charlene White, Jane Moore, and Judi Love. As the hosts discussed whether the public is taking the flu seriously this winter, she reflected on a recent health scare that hit close to home.
The panel had been reacting to warnings that the NHS is facing its "worst-case scenario" in the lead-up to Christmas.

Coleen explained that, while she doesn't usually get the flu jab, her stance was shaken following a personal experience involving her son, Shane Nolan, and his five-week-old baby, Cruz-Carter. She told viewers:
"My son, only in the last couple of days, it's [flu] hit him and he had a temperature of 102. Because they have Cruz, who is only five weeks old, his temperature started to go up so they rushed him to A&E and then all of a sudden it starts to become a reality."

She went on to say that Shane's partner, Kimberley Sallis, described packed-out emergency rooms. "Kim, Shane's partner, she was saying at A&E, it was just packed out with people that were there with the flu," Coleen said.
Shane is Coleen's son from her previous marriage to actor Shane Richie, to whom she was married from 1990 until 1999.

The couple also share a second son, Jake Nolan, 33, who became a father himself in November 2024. Shane and Kimberley, who both have children from previous relationships, welcomed Cruz-Carter on November 13, 2025.
Following the newborn's arrival, Coleen celebrated becoming a grandmother once again by posting on social media, "Just when I thought I had no more love to give, along came you… Cruz-Carter 6lb 6oz. I'm obsessed with you already!"
Though the scare left Coleen visibly shaken, the singer and presenter has often spoken about the joys and challenges of motherhood.
Since then, Shane and Kimberley have offered fans a heartwarming glimpse into their growing family through a series of touching Instagram posts. In one, Shane cradled baby Cruz-Carter in festive pyjamas, calling him "Our little Christmas baby."
Another showed the father and son in matching colours ahead of a football match, with Kimberley joking that "Daddy's lucky mascot" had been dressed for a Manchester United win.
Perhaps most emotional was Shane's tribute to Kimberley in a post from the hospital shortly after Cruz-Carter's birth. In a lengthy caption, he thanked her for changing his life, writing, "Thank you for bringing our son into this world."
Though the scare left Coleen visibly shaken, the singer and presenter has often spoken about the joys and challenges of motherhood. In a 2024 interview, she joked about her once-ambitious plans for a large family:
"I always wanted 10 because I wanted to beat my mom by two. And then I got to the third one and thought, 'Nah, she can have the title. I'm not going again.'"

Coleen had her first child at 23, shortly after years of performing with The Nolans. She recalled feeling emotionally unprepared for the guilt that accompanied motherhood. "I used to absolutely hate leaving him," she said.
When her second son arrived, she found balancing the needs of two children to be unexpectedly difficult. Coleen also revealed that she suffered a miscarriage during a difficult period in her first marriage.
However, years later, she had her daughter, Ciara Fensome, with her second husband, Ray Fensome. With an eight-year gap between Jake and Ciara, Coleen said it felt like becoming a mom for the first time all over again — particularly as she was now raising a daughter.
Coleen has long shared glimpses of her family life with viewers of "Loose Women," including her pride in seeing her children follow in her musical footsteps. "They've just grown up with a singing family and they can just sing. I don't know how that happens. Must be genetic," she stated.
Now a grandmother several times over, Coleen's latest experience has left her with a sobering reminder of how quickly things can change and underscores just how fragile those early days of life can be.
