Yeison Jiménez, the acclaimed singer-songwriter and música popular star, died on January 10 at the age of 34. A representative confirmed the tragic news in an Instagram post. Meanwhile, eyewitness footage from the crash site has continued to circulate online, drawing widespread attention.

The aircraft, owned by Jiménez's company, YJ Company SAS, crashed shortly after takeoff at around 4 p.m. local time. Jiménez had been en route to Medellín, near the town of Marinilla, where he was scheduled to perform later that evening, when the fatal accident occurred.

In a statement translated from Spanish, Jiménez's representative said, “With heavy hearts and indescribable grief, Yeison Jiménez's organization and team deeply regret to announce his passing."

The message went on to explain that the loss extended far beyond his music career. It noted that Jiménez was not only an artist but also a devoted son, brother, friend, and a determined individual whose life story and resilience inspired thousands.

Jiménez's life reflected unwavering perseverance, discipline, and a deep commitment to his community. His music and the way he lived were shaped by years of dedication, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who admired and followed him.

The statement added, "Yeison may be gone physically, but his legacy lives on: in his songs, in his words, in his struggles, in his refusal to give up. The other victims were identified as Jiménez's representative, Jefferson Osorio, Juan Manuel, Jiménez's private assistant Oscar Marín, Weisman Mora, and Captain Fernando Torres. "We send our deepest condolences, our absolute solidarity, and our prayers to their families during this difficult time," the news release concluded.

Before boarding the aircraft, Jiménez had shared a reflective message on Instagram, "Always humble, because what God gives you he can also take away."

Mora, who worked as Jiménez’s photographer, had posted a video to his Instagram Stories moments before the crash. The short clip showed the view from inside the plane, filmed from the front passenger seat as the aircraft moved along the runway.

Investigation Underway – Singer Leaves Behind Wife and Children

The aircraft, registered as N325FA, was later confirmed to have gone down in the area between Paipa and Duitama. Jiménez bought it in August 2022 after his popularity and wealth increased.

Footage captured shortly after the incident shows the aircraft engulfed in flames after coming to rest on the ground. In the video, an emergency responder can be seen rushing toward the wreckage and attempting to extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher.

Authorities said the Technical Directorate for Accident Investigation has opened an inquiry into the cause of the crash. Jiménez is survived by his wife and their three children.

He added, "Those were the dreams. And in one of the dreams, I … dreamt that we had died and that we were on the news. And it was the third time I dreamt that. God gave me three signs, and I didn't understand them. I didn't get them."

The following year, he achieved another milestone by selling out Bogotá's El Campín Stadium, a feat Billboard reported had never before been accomplished by a Colombian artist. In his lifetime, Yeison Jiménez has published eight albums and written 70 songs.
