Oliver Tree's Resurfaced Record Label Video Sparks Debate as Fans Point to One Detail They Can't Ignore
Oliver Tree's final months were loud ones — a canceled album, a record label fallout, and a world tour that was just getting started. Now, a video he posted in April is pulling fans back, and what they're finding in it is making them uncomfortable.
The renewed interest comes after the 32-year-old singer was identified among six people involved in a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on June 14. While authorities continue investigating the incident, social media users have been flooding one particular video with reactions and speculation.
For many fans, it is not just the footage itself that has captured attention. It is what Tree was discussing at the time — and how much had changed in the weeks that followed.

A Fierce Label Dispute
Tree posted the video at the center of the discussion in April, announcing that his album "Love You Madly Hate You Badly" had been canceled.
"I just got word that my album is no longer coming out," he said. "'Love You Madly, Hate You Badly' is officially canceled, and I'm parting ways with Atlantic Records."
He didn't hold back on what led to that decision. "Behind the scenes has been nothing short of a nightmare," he said. "I have no marketing budgets for music videos, no digital ad spend. Nobody really cares in the building, it seems like."

He alleged that the label forgot to load multiple songs into their distribution system, including a Valentine's Day single that never went live because, as he put it, "someone forgot to put it in." He framed the failure in financial terms: "I've made them tens of millions of dollars, but they don't remember that."
He closed with what felt like a goodbye — to the label, to the album, and to any near-term release plans. "The music is owned by them," he said. "The remainder of the music will not be coming out... for now, there is nothing on the horizon."

The Comments Section Takes a Dark Turn
Following news of the helicopter collision, many fans returned to the Instagram video and began leaving comments linking the timing of the post to recent events.
Among the reactions were comments such as: "They killed him I don't care what anyone says 😢🕊️ this was way too soon after he posted this."

One person wrote: "Seeing he just got into a helicopter accident two months after posting this...👀👀👀 this isn't okay." Others added, "They killed him," and, "Crazy how I'm seeing this rn...they really killed this man."
One commenter wrote: "I'm just saying I remember when I saw this video eight weeks ago I thought it was kind of weird and now here we are and I still think it's even weirder...."
Another added: "This is all so odd I don't think it was an accident yall." A separate comment referenced Tree's dispute with his former label, writing: "Conflict with the record label and now ..... 😭😭😭"
There is no evidence presented by authorities connecting the helicopter collision to Tree's record label dispute. The comments reflect reactions posted by social media users.
A Turnaround, and Then a Tour
The April announcement was not the end of the story. Days after the first video, Tree posted a follow-up with a very different tone. Fan pressure on Atlantic Records had apparently worked.
His team had negotiated a deal that allowed him to release the album on his own imprint, Alien Boy Records. "After you guys have joined together in the tens of thousands and sent messages to the label, we have officially reached a negotiation," Tree said.
The album was back on with April 24, 2026, as the release date. He also used the second video to explain what the album meant to him. Over two and a half years, he had traveled to 82 countries and recorded on all seven continents. Atlantic's issue, he said, was that the music wasn't engineered for TikTok virality.

A Massive Tour Was Still Ahead
With the album out, Tree threw himself into a global tour that was, by any measure, enormous in scope. He unveiled it in early May, calling it "The World's First World Tour," and describing it as the biggest tour of his life.
The itinerary included more than 70 shows across over 30 countries and all seven continents. He had already worked through Latin America and parts of North America.

After performing in Latin America, Tree still had dozens of concerts scheduled throughout North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and China. According to his official tour schedule, the European leg was set to begin on July 1 in Lisbon, Portugal.
Additional performances were scheduled in Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Milan, Vienna, Prague, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, London, Manchester, Glasgow, and numerous other cities.
The tour was expected to continue through Australia, New Zealand, and China, with dates stretching into late October. The schedule highlighted how active Tree remained professionally, with months of performances still planned.
His tour page still lists dates running through late October, including stops in New York, Tokyo, Sydney, and Beijing. At the time of the June 14 collision, Tree remained actively engaged in one of the largest touring schedules of his career.
What Happened in Rio
On the morning of June 14, Tree was in Rio de Janeiro when the helicopter he was traveling in collided mid-air with another aircraft. Both came down over a parking lot on Avenida das Américas in Recreio dos Bandeirantes.
The impact triggered a fire that engulfed approximately 20 vehicles — many of them electric cars parked at a charging yard.

The authorities identified five passengers in one aircraft, including Tree, Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, Lucas Brito Chaves, and pilot Alexandre Souza. The other helicopter was occupied solely by its pilot, Charles Marsillac, who also died.

Shocking bystander footage shared online and referenced by Breaking911 appeared to show the terrifying aftermath of the crash scene. The video captured a literal sea of flames inside the parking lot while a nearby worker attempted to extinguish the fire.
Local emergency teams, including the Fire Department and the 42nd Precinct, quickly arrived to isolate the area. Forensic investigators are currently examining the wreckage to determine the exact cause of the mid-air crash.

A Shocking Witness Account
As investigators look for technical answers, a chilling statement from an eyewitness has added a whole new layer of mystery. A tire repair worker named Fernandes de Freitas saw the entire disaster unfold from the ground.
In an interview with the Associated Press, De Freitas recalled seeing one of the helicopters completely engulfed in flames after the initial impact. He then observed a highly unusual detail that has left online sleuths completely baffled.

The witness explicitly stated that one of the passengers actually jumped out of the aircraft before it struck the ground. "It was terrifying, absolutely horrifying," De Freitas stated when describing the final moments of the flight.
This specific detail has caused internet theories to spin completely out of control. Fans are actively trying to piece together the chaotic timeline of the crash.

The extreme nature of the survival attempt has left the public searching for answers. For now, the local police have not released any further details regarding which passenger exited the falling helicopter.
