Oklahoma Mother Spring Weems Found Deceased near Her House
An Oklahoma neighborhood was shaken after a mother was found dead near her home, a teen was taken into custody, and investigators are trying to piece together what unfolded behind closed doors.
Spring Weems, a 49-year-old mother, was found deceased near her home in Logan County, Oklahoma. Authorities confirmed this as investigators detailed a case that began with a call about a fight between teenagers.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, deputies were called to a home in the Cascata Falls neighborhood near Edmond after reports of a fight-in-progress involving two juveniles. When deputies arrived, they discovered Weems' body inside a trash can outside the residence.

A Disturbance That Turned Deadly
Investigators said neighbors had reported a disturbance between two teenage boys outside the home, prompting a 911 call. A neighbor who attempted to intervene told authorities that one of the teens said, "he killed my mother."
Deputies confirmed they initially responded to the scene believing it was a physical altercation. "We initially responded to a fight-in-progress call. We arrived and found two juveniles fighting," Logan County Undersheriff Troy Dykes said.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation later identified the victim as Spring Weems, a single mother who lived in what neighbors described as an upscale neighborhood. OSBI confirmed that one of Weems' adopted sons was arrested on a first-degree murder complaint and taken to the Canadian County Juvenile Detention Center.

A Son Arrested, Answers Still Missing
Authorities stated there are no other suspects at this time, though the investigation remains ongoing. OSBI also said the medical examiner's results are still pending, and details about the exact cause of death have not been released.
"This is just a terrible case," OSBI spokesperson Hunter McKee said. "Nobody deserves to die as this woman did."

Court documents obtained by KFOR identified the suspect as sixteen-year-old Jordan Weems. According to those documents, Jordan told the Logan County Sheriff's Office that he killed his mother with a hammer and his fists before placing her body in the trash can.
The documents allege that Jordan waited until the middle of the night to attack Weems. Afterward, he allegedly cleaned the scene and lied to family members about where she was.

A Home Already Known to Authorities
Authorities were already familiar with the household earlier that day, court records show. Police conducted a welfare check after Spring Weems was reported missing, hours before deputies were called back to the home for the fight between the two juveniles.
Court documents also outlined prior behavioral issues involving Jordan and one of his brothers, including sneaking out of the home.

That same brother told investigators that Weems disciplined Jordan by taking his clothes and bedding, locking them in her room, making him wear an orange jumpsuit, and feeding him ham or chicken with beans to show what prison life might be like if his behavior did not improve.
The Logan County district attorney stated in court documents that Jordan planned the killing, took steps to hide the body, fabricated evidence, and lied to his family afterward. The documents also noted that Jordan had no prior criminal record but had been committed to a psychiatric hospital in recent weeks due to suicidal thoughts.

A Neighborhood Left Traumatized and Reeling
News of Weems' death sent shockwaves through the Cascata Falls neighborhood, where neighbors described confusion and disbelief. Garland Hall, who said he has lived in the neighborhood for nine years, said residents were struggling to process what happened.
"Everybody's traumatized," Hall said. "Disbelief, just shattered, heartbroken, a lot of the people here in the neighborhood just can't believe it."
Hall also asked the public to keep the family in their thoughts. "I would ask everyone to pray," he said. "Pray for that family and particularly because they're shattered and just pray to God that he would comfort us during this time."

Remembering the Woman Behind the Tragedy
As the investigation unfolded, community members shared memories of Weems' life beyond the tragedy. A GoFundMe campaign created with the family's permission described her as "an incredible mother of five and the very heart of her family."
The fundraiser states that Spring Weems leaves behind an adult daughter in her twenties, who recently became a mother herself, three teenage sons, and a newly teenage daughter. It also notes that her ex-husband is helping support the children as the family navigates funeral arrangements, household responsibilities, and ongoing care.

As of Monday, February 2, 2026, the fundraiser had reached seventy-seven percent of its sixteen-thousand-dollar goal, raising twelve thousand one hundred eighty-eight dollars to assist with funeral expenses, childcare needs, household bills, and long-term stability for her children.
Friends also shared personal tributes online, including a lengthy post by Brenna Reaves on Facebook. "She WAS the hub of our community," Reaves wrote, adding, "You felt seen, supported, and loved by her in every way."

Reaves described decades of shared life moments, writing, "I was married in her backyard and she hosted the most beautiful wedding for me and my husband," and later added, "Her laugh was contagious and her jokes were hilarious."
The post continued with vivid memories, including, "I still remember her gait, the way she felt when she hugged me (and always kissed my face), the way she plated everyone's food before she sat down."

OSBI later turned the investigation over to the Logan County District Attorney's Office as the case moves forward. Authorities have not released additional details, saying they are waiting for the medical examiner's findings while the legal process continues.
