A mother's loving words to her son, written just months ago, now carry a weight no one could have imagined when she typed them.

Two people were killed in a double homicide in Pueblo, Colorado, in the early hours of April 4, 2026. The tragedy also claimed the life of a 19-year-old, though under deeply different circumstances.

What Happened in Pueblo Before Dawn?

Just after 1 a.m. that Saturday, Pueblo Police officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of E. 4th Street following reports of a shooting. ShotSpotter technology had already picked up multiple gunshot rounds before the 911 call even came in.

When officers reached the location, they found two people dead. One victim lay in the street while the other remained inside a vehicle. The scene was still fresh, and a suspect was unaccounted for.

As investigators worked to piece together what had happened, a separate alert came in from the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office.

A man took his own life with a firearm in Pueblo West, and early evidence suggested he was the individual responsible for the double murder. The police department released this information just a few hours after the incident.

Who Were the Victims?

Later that day, the Pueblo County Coroner identified all three individuals involved in this incident.

The two homicide victims were Amanda Leigh Manion, 41, and Glenn Allen Beeman Jr., 40, her estranged ex-husband. The man who died by suicide in Pueblo West was identified as their son, Glenn Allen Beeman III, 19.

The incident marked Pueblo's fourth and fifth homicides of 2026, a grim milestone. By comparison, the city had recorded only two homicides at this point in 2025.

The investigation remains active, and authorities noted that details may shift as more evidence is gathered and reviewed.

Amanda's Brother Speaks Out

That evening, Amanda's brother Eric Manion broke the news publicly in a Facebook post addressed to family and friends. He opened by saying he was "deeply sorry if you are learning about this horrific tragedy on Facebook," acknowledging he hadn't been able to reach everyone personally.

Eric confirmed that Amanda, her estranged ex-husband Glenn Jr., and their son Glenn III had all passed away.

He also asked loved ones for patience, writing, "There is a lot of information we are still sorting through regarding this incident. While our family begins to grieve and comb through these events, we respectfully ask that you hold your questions until further notice."

What Did Amanda's Old Post Reveal?

As news of the tragedy spread, a post Amanda had shared just months earlier resurfaced, and it's almost too heartbreaking to read.

On January 28, she posted a collection of photos of her son, Glenn, spanning his childhood through adulthood, to celebrate his 19th birthday.

Her caption read:

"19 years of being a boy mom! The ups and downs and in-between! I hope you know what I mean when I say I love you always and forever. I am thankful for another trip around the sun with you! Praying for an amazing year full of blessings! Happy birthday Son."

The words "I love you always and forever," written by a mother who had no way of knowing they would be among her last public ones to her child, land much differently now.

Where Can People Help?

Unfortunately, Amanda left behind a few more kids who are now facing an unimaginable loss. A GoFundMe was set up by Sara Espinoza, with Eric's permission, to support them in the days and months ahead.

Sara described Amanda as "a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend to many," and said the fundraiser exists to provide the children with immediate needs, stability, and care going forward. As of publication, it had raised over $6,700 of its $10,000 goal from 56 donations.

Sara later updated the campaign with added transparency, explaining that she and her husband are cousins to both Amanda and Eric, and that Eric and his wife are already helping the children manage the logistics of nearly everything else.

She wrote, "My husband loved Mandy dearly and he and Eric were like a second set of siblings to him growing up." All funds will go directly to the children through a secured method, potentially a trust, once the family determines the best path forward.

Originally, the fundraiser was intended to help cover funeral costs, but Sara noted that a state victims fund may take care of that expense. She also confirmed that GoFundMe requested further verification to ensure no one was taking advantage of the situation, something Sara called "truly amazing" of them.

Every dollar raised will go to Amanda's children as they navigate a loss that no family should ever have to face. Still, nothing can bring back what was lost.

Unfortunately, a similar incident occurred just last month. "Total surprise and shock." That's how one neighbor described the moment a quiet, gated Florida community learned something unthinkable had happened behind closed doors.

From the outside, the home looked like any other in the quiet Lakewood Ranch community, with manicured lawns, gated security, and nothing to suggest distress.

But a routine welfare check at the luxury residence would soon uncover a tragedy few saw coming.

The Welfare Check That Changed Everything

Behind the gates of one of the area's most exclusive neighborhoods, deputies encountered a scene they would later describe as "violent" and heartbreaking.

According to the New York Post, deputies were called to the family's million-dollar residence in The Lake Club after a concerned husband and father, Richard James, requested help.

He had been traveling in South America and had not heard from his family in at least a day and a half. When authorities arrived at the $1.7 million home around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, they immediately sensed something was terribly wrong.

"Right away, you could tell something wasn't right," Manatee County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Randy Warren told the New York Post. Those chilling words would only begin to hint at the devastating discovery waiting inside the luxury Florida home.

Where and When It Happened

Deputies responded at approximately 8:30 p.m. to the family's home in the 8200 block of Pavia Way, located within the gated Lake Club subdivision of Lakewood Ranch.

Richard, who was still overseas at the time, had asked authorities to check on his wife and children after being unable to reach them.

Once at the home, deputies said they "observed circumstances that prompted them to enter the residence." The sheriff's office did not share what these circumstances were, but described the scene as "violent."

What they found inside stunned even seasoned law enforcement officers and confirmed the community's worst fears.

The Heartbreaking Discovery Inside the Home

Inside the home, deputies made a devastating discovery. Deputies found Monika Rubacha, 44, along with her son, Josh James, 14, and daughter, Emma James, 11, dead in separate rooms.

All three had suffered traumatic injuries, according to reporting from ABC 7 News. Detectives said the children were found in different bedrooms, while their mother was located in another area of the house.

"This is a violent scene," Randy said, describing what deputies encountered. "This is a horrible thing." Investigators believe Monica killed her two children before taking her own life.

Yet a photo from May 2018 shows the family earlier appearing picture-perfect. In a golden-hour portrait shared online, the family stands close together beneath softly lit trees.

Monica smiles gently at the camera while holding her pink-dressed daughter, as her husband rests a protective arm around her shoulders. Their son leans into his parents with a wide grin, completing what appears to be an effortlessly happy family moment.

One commenter once wrote, "Wow! You look like a picture perfect family... love the photos."

Now, that remark feels especially haunting.

What Authorities Are Saying

Officials have been clear about one key detail: they do not believe anyone else was involved. According to WTSP, investigators are confident this was a murder-suicide and that no one else entered or left the home. "There were signs of homicidal violence," the sheriff's office spokesperson further told news outlets.

Deputies also confirmed there had been no prior calls for service to the address. Fox 13 News also reported that Randy emphasized the emotional toll the scene took on those involved. "This is a horrible thing for the deputies to have to witness," he said, adding:

"Even worse, for the father and the husband, who was on his way back from South America. He flew in this morning and had to be notified of what happened here. It’s an incredible emotional day for him. It's not a good scene at all."

Authorities also addressed speculation about the motive. "We really don’t know all that was in her frame of mind," Randy said. "But we are very confident all the parties that were involved in this are accounted for."

He added, "There was no one else who entered the home or left the scene. As tragic as this is, it is really unimaginable that two children were killed in their home by a parent, and then she proceeded to take her own life."

The motive for the deaths has not been revealed. As investigators continue searching for answers, neighbors are still trying to process how something so devastating unfolded in their quiet community.

A Quiet Community in Shock

Neighbors described the Lakewood Ranch community as peaceful and close-knit. "Total surprise and shock. This neighborhood’s so quiet. Of course, we don’t know any of the facts, I guess. But hearing that happened in your neighborhood is quite shocking," one neighbor reportedly told 10 Tampa Bay News.

The Lake Club homeowners' association issued a statement acknowledging the tragedy:

"We are aware of a tragic incident that occurred within The Lake Club. At this time, the matter remains under investigation by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. We do not have additional information to provide."

"Our hearts are with the family and all those affected during this incredibly difficult time. As this is an active investigation and out of respect for those involved, we will not be providing further comment," the association added in their statement.

What We Know About the Family

Authorities said the family moved to the Lakewood Ranch area about three years ago from Missouri. There had been no prior incidents at the residence, and deputies had never been dispatched there. While Randy would not confirm whether a note was left behind, he did reveal that investigators uncovered troubling evidence at the scene.

"There was some planning involved ... she knew what she was doing," he said. That detail has left many grappling with even more questions.

What Happens Next

The Medical Examiner is still working to determine the official causes and manner of death.

Detectives continue to process evidence as the case remains active and ongoing. "This is a horrible thing," Randy reiterated, summing up what so many in the community are feeling.

For now, a grieving father, stunned neighbors, and shaken deputies are left trying to make sense of a tragedy that unfolded behind the doors of what once appeared to be an ordinary family home, and one that, authorities say, no one could have predicted.
