Hollywood legend Robert Duvall, the Oscar-winning actor renowned for his commanding performances in classics such as "The Godfather," "Apocalypse Now," and "To Kill a Mockingbird," among many others, has passed away at home on Sunday at the age of 95, according to his wife.

His wife, Luciana Pedraza, confirmed the news in a Facebook post on Monday morning, writing, "Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort."

She added, "His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented." Pedraza also asked the public for privacy as the family mourns and honors his memory.

Fans quickly flooded social media with tributes. "He was an American legend," one wrote. Another one said, "He was the most talented and amazing actor of our time. What a legend." And another one added, "This one hits hard. Such a great man and actor."

Even in his later years, Duvall didn't talk like someone ready to slow down. In a past interview while promoting "12 Mighty Orphans," he made it clear retirement wasn't on his mind.

Asked what he enjoyed most about being 90, he replied, "Love the most? I don't know if I love any of it, but day to day with my wonderful wife." He added, "She takes care of me, and I have good friends, and try to work out and keep in some kind of shape."
