Tragic update on Amber Alert of 7-month-old Oklahoma baby
In a tragic turn of events, the body of a baby who was kidnapped is believed to have been found. The father took the baby from its mother last month after an altercation.
According to Time, Jody Minjarez was taken from his mother on February 19, 2018. An Amber Alert was issued on March 7, 2018, while police continued to search for the little boy.
An Amber Alert was released for 7-month-old Jody Minjarez on Wednesday. This was more than two weeks after he was taken by his father, Victor Minjarez according to Norman Police.
Police announced that they had found the body of a child that they believed to be Jody. Jody’s mother, whose name was not released, told Norman Police that she had been assaulted by Victor who then left with the baby.
At the time, however, she had believed that he would return with the baby. She held this belief because he had “taken him in the past for approximately five days before returning him.”
But on February 28, 2018, a friend of Jody’s mother received a text message, apparently from Victor.
‘UPDATE: The body of a child believed to be 7-month-old Jody Minjarez was located at the residence in OKC where 31YO Victor Minjarez was taken into custody. @OKCPD is the lead agency on these investigations as they occurred in their jurisdiction.’

The message said that the mother of the child would never see her Jody again. Search efforts continued and intensified especially due to the message.
This included a March 7 Amber Alert being released to the public. Victor, who had also stolen a car, was then found in Oklahoma City.
Several hours later he was taken into custody by the police. Authorities also discovered the body of a child which they believed to be Jody.
The body was found at the residence where Victor was located. Jody’s father was booked on March 8, 2018, at the Oklahoma County Jail.
Some of the charges he faced were first-degree murder and desecrating a human corpse, according to jail records.
