The Young and the Restless' star suffers a devastating family loss

The star lost an important woman in his life on International Women's Day.

As reported in an article published by Soap Hub, star of the hit television show The Young and The Restless, Daniel Goddard shared the loss of his maternal grandmother on Thursday, March 8.

Goddard's grandmother was 97 years old. He shared the sad news with his fans and followers on social media and expressed his grief over her death.

The actor revealed that his godmother was an inspirational woman who always fought the stigma in the society and inequality towards women throughout her lifetime.

The Australian-born actor is known best for his portrayal of Cane Ashby on The Young and The Restless.

"She fought the stigma of inequality for years and in 1939 when World War 2 broke out she and women like her all around the world went to work in the factories to do the jobs of the men who went off to fight."

The 46-year-old actor added that his mother, who is 76 years old, is a living role model for generations of people.

He said that she carried forward the torch that was lit by his grandmother and all the great women who fought the good fight over the years.

His mother followed her mother's footsteps and joined The Women's Liberation Movement in the '70s. She always stood up for women's rights and equal pay for all women.

Goddard revealed that his mother did not have any sisters but he felt blessed to watch her tirelessly campaign against injustice as he grew up.

The actor also added an inspiring message to all the strong, independent and loving women. He emphasized that all women who strive for equality in a patriarchal world need to know that they are loved, cherished and respected.
