People often say that the road to success is filled with bumps and curves. For some of them, things are even more difficult.

That’s the case of David Francisco, a 25-year-old man who went to American Idol to prove the world how good a singer he is. The first thing that judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan noticed was that he was using crutches.

As reported by Inspire More, Bryan asked him to tell them his story and he explained that he had moved to Nashville to pursue his dream of becoming a musician. Just a couple of weeks later, a distracted driver hit him while riding his bike.

When he woke up in the hospital, he couldn’t feel anything from the waist down. Doctors told him that the impact left him paralyzed.

At that point, Francisco thought that not only his dream of being a musician but also his desire to be in a relationship were over. With the help of friends and family, he persevered and started going to therapy.

Month after month, he kept improving and nowadays, he is able to walk using crutches. He even found the love as an old friend, Christie, got in touch with him after learning what had happened.

She has been helping him with his music and was present during his audition in American Idol. David chose to sing Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder. His voice and the situation made it look like a serenade to Christie.

After listening to his performance and noticing that Christie was trying her best to hold her tears, Perry started crying and couldn’t stop looking at Richie in astonishment.

Before Francisco finished singing, Richie stood up, gave him a huge hug, and told him that he was an inspiration for everybody. The rest of the judges joined them and Bryan gave him the golden ticket to Hollywood.

It is only the beginning of Francisco’s dream, a man who showed people that a positive attitude is very helpful in every single situation.
