Ten years before the first episode of their show aired, the couple was madly in love with each other.

The stars of Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna Gaines, opened up about their love story and their journey together, according to Inspiring Day.

The audience could not help but fall in love with Chip and Joanna Gaines when their show Fixer Upper aired for the first time on May 23, 2013.

The two had started their journey together about ten years earlier.

The super-successful couple is now expecting their fifth child and revealed that it is going to be a boy.

A little-known fact about the two is that Chip proposed to Joanna in a shopping center. He had originally told her that they were off to a concert but brought her to a jewelry store in Archer City, Texas.

He got down on one knee and asked Joanna to be his wife to which she agreed. The couple then began designing a gorgeous ring.

Speaking about Chip, Joanna said, “At first, I couldn’t believe how kind Chip was. He had kind eyes and made me laugh a lot. I knew he was the one because I knew I could trust him.”

She picked out a round diamond and a beautiful, antique-looking platinum setting. While she was busy selecting the ring for herself, Chip just sat there patiently observing his then soon-to-be wife.

A few years later, Chip offered Joanna to switch out her diamond for a bigger one. However, she refused and said that the ring was part of their story.

The couple got married in the Earle Harrison House in Waco, Texas, on May 31, 2003. The house is a 5,000 square foot mansion, whose ceilings reach 14 feet high with large rooms and walkthrough windows.

It is the oldest building in Waco and was built in 1858. It belonged to Dr. Baylis Wood Earle and his wife, Eliza Harrison Earle.

The two decided to honeymoon in New York and stayed at Drake Hotel located at Park Avenue and 56th Street, in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. The hotel was how they came up with their first son’s name.

Immediately after they got married, Joanna joined her husband in his flipping homes ventures. Their first renovation together was their newlywed home, an 800 square feet house which “forced” them to be creative.

The couple had to face hard times with little income, but soon Joanna found her passion for design and home décor.

Over a period of time, the two built their businesses, published several books, built new partnerships, and won the hearts of millions of fans. Today the couple with four children and one on the way is doing well.
