Obese baby girl Chahat Kumar's weight alarms doctors
This baby girl has proven that not all babies are the same.
The average weight of an eight-month-old baby girl is about 16 to 21 pounds, but Chahat Kumar, from Punjab, India, weighs 38 pounds, as reported by American Web Media.
Chahat’s condition has even alarmed the local doctors. Her parents claimed that their daughter was born with a normal weight. But as she grew up, her size became massive.
They first noticed that her body structure was different when she turned four months old. They thought that something could be wrong with their little girl.
Chahat's weight made her mother, Reena Kumar, very anxious. Her father, Suraj Kumar, revealed that her appetite is not like anything ever recorded and that she is constantly craving for food and milk.
Worrying that their child's rapid weight gain could be putting a strain on her health, Reena and Suraj took her to the doctor to get a diagnosis.
Unfortunately, the doctor, Dr. Sharma, failed to perform basic tests due to her thick skin. He could not locate a vein to draw blood which made a medical diagnosis very hard.
Dr. Sharma, who has seen Chahat since she was born, admitted that "he has never seen weight gain like this before."
He later advised the parents to take their daughter to the Civic Hospital in Amritsar to see a pediatric specialist. But they also failed to analyze the baby girl's condition because they couldn't draw blood from her.
Chahat weighs a similar amount to that of a four-year-old. Her health could be at risk if the doctors are unable to figure out her medical condition.
According to Daily Mail, Chahat is now struggling to breathe. She even sleeps as a result of her excessive weight.
"It's not our fault. God gave this condition to her. It's not in our hands. I feel bad when some people laugh at her for being fat," her father said.
