How Nicole Kidman saved Keith Urban from drug battle

The country music star made a startling confession about his wife.

AWM reported that Keith Urban had only his wife, Nicole Kidman, to thank for staying sober for over a decade now.

Undeniably one of the hottest couples in Hollywood, Urban and Kidman, have the good looks and the paparazzi potential. Besides, they also have something few celebrity couples share.

The two are head-over-heels in love with each other and it was only recently that singer Urban shared something about their marriage.

He confessed that he was struggling with alcohol addiction before his wife pulled him out of the depths of despair. Urban credits all his success he has achieved to Kidman.

When he received two American Music Awards last year, he thanked his wife while up on the stage. However, he refrained from revealing all the things he was thankful for when it came to his wife.

Recently, he had the opportunity to thank his wife again when he admitted that it was Kidman who saved him from his addiction to alcohol.

Months into their wedding, Urban’s demons started to destroy their perfect relationship. He was consuming alcohol at an alarming rate while taking drugs like ecstasy and cocaine to make himself feel good.

“I’d go to sleep, wake up a couple of hours later, go at it again, drinking to take the edge off. I knew I wasn’t at my full potential, and that’s what was starting to get to me. I was enslaved… I was living a very, very small life,” Urban confessed.

It was then that Kidman held an intervention and Urban has been drug-free since then. He said that it was all Kidman when it comes to his resurrection.

He said that he was “spiritually awoke with her.” He could shake off the shackles of addiction for the first time in his life.

Urban and Kidman met for the first time at an event honoring Australian entertainers. The actress said she “literally stumbled into” her future husband and felt the undeniable connection. She had the perfect chance to start again after her failed marriage with Tom Cruise.

The two began their whirlwind romance and were engaged in just a year after they first met. The couple shares two children, Sunday and Faith, and live a happy life.
