As reported by Inquisitr, the royal family travel all over the world. But there are some strict rules that they must follow when they travel.

Queen Elizabeth, Duchess Kate, Meghan Markle and the other members of the royal family are required to pack a black mourning outfit before leaving the country to go overseas just in case one of their relatives dies.

The Royals should be dressed in black upon return home to England for a funeral, as per royal protocol.

This royal rule was put in place following the death of Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI.

George VI was discovered dead in bed at Sandringham House in Norfolk on February 6, 1952. He had died from a coronary thrombosis in his sleep at the age of 56.

The Queen was on a trip with Prince Philip in Kenya when the sad news broke that her father had passed away.

At the time, Her Majesty had not packed anything black for mourning. When the Queen return to the United Kingdom, she was forced to wait on the plane until a black dress was delivered.

She didn't want to be seen in public wearing unsuitable clothing and instituted the protocol for the rest of the family.

Apart from a black mourning outfit, members of the royal family are advised not to order shellfish when eating in foreign countries.

This is because shellfish poses a higher risk of food poisoning which would interrupt their engagements.

That’s not the only rule the members of the royal family follow when they travel.

The Royals are also banned from traveling on private jets unless they are working on an official business. They spend wisely because the budget for travel comes straight from taxpayers.

The travel rule is the reason why people can see a few royals, like the Queen, Kate, and Meghan, on commercial flights.

This happened during the first date of Prince Harry and Meghan. The 33-year-old Prince wasn't on official business so he could not charter a private jet at the time.
