Oprah's 'secret' son stopped hearts when he ambushed her. She then revealed his true identity

- After a taping of 'The Late Show' with Stephen Colbert, Winfrey was ambushed outside a theatre by a man who claimed to be her long-lost son.

- However, after she recognized him as a boy she tried to help when he was way younger, she revealed his true identity and cleared the air.

Oprah Winfrey is a 63-year-old American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist.

Winfrey might just be most famous for her talk show 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' which was the highest-rated television program of its kind in history and was nationally syndicated from 1986 to 2011 in Chicago, Illinois.

She is the richest African-American and North America's first multi-billionaire black person, she is also the greatest black philanthropist ranked in the history of the US.

Oprah is known in some circles as the 'Queen of All Media' and she has been ranked severally as the most influential woman in the world.

However, her kindheartedness almost backfired some time ago.

Years ago, outside the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York after taping of 'The Late Show' with Stephen Colbert, Oprah was ambushed by a young man who claimed that he was her long-estranged son.

The National Enquirer had arranged for Mitchell to run into Oprah after he told the tabloid he wanted to reconnect with the talk show host after becoming estranged from her for 20 years.

Oprah revealed that she did not immediately recognize the man but later it clicked in her head that he was the young boy, Mitchell whom she tried to help a long time ago.

She confirmed that Mitchell is not her birth son, but she admitted she was 'so charmed' by him when they met in the early 1990s, she did everything she could to help his family.

The famous talk show host, Oprah explained further

'I met Mitchell around the early '90s, I think it was 1992. I was doing a film for television called 'There Are No Children Here'. I was so charmed by him that I started talking to him about his family, his school life, and found out that he was in a situation where his mother didn't have a job and they were stuck in the projects. I took it upon myself to help the family move out of the projects, find employment for Mitchell's mother, and enroll him in a local private school'

Oprah said that she has not spoken to Mitchell since he quit the private boarding she had enrolled him in more than 20 years ago.

At first, she was keen to reconnect with him but when she realized that he sold his story to the tabloids and their encounter was a set-up, she wants nothing to do with him.
