Dying firefighter sings his favorite Garth Brooks song days before his death
Many people have said that firefighting is one of the most dangerous yet rewarding professions in the world.
Pretty much everybody feels nothing but respect when they see one of them on the streets as they put in risk their own lives to save others. Marc Wright knows it firsthand as he was a firefighter for more than 30 years.
Country Music Family reported that, unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer and, even though he fought with all his strength, doctors discovered three years later that the illness had spread to his liver, two lymph nodes, and lungs.
It was too late for him and he knew it. Once in the hospital, he revealed his last wish, so most members of his family and friends got together. One of them was holding a guitar, and Wright confessed that he wanted to sing his favorite song, The Dance by Garth Brooks.
His friend began softly playing the guitar while the man who saved uncountable lives throughout his career was exhaling his last breaths. The people in the room couldn’t hold back their tears.
When he finished his performance, everyone’s applause filled the place. The video was uploaded to social media and it became viral in no time. Sadly, Wright passed away only five days after singing The Dance, on January 29, 2018.
His performance became so popular that Brooks himself watched it. He talked about it in a Facebook Live video he had a couple of weeks later and surprised many people with his words.
'When you find a good voice for a good song, all of a sudden it takes on its own voice, and I’ve never heard The Dance sung like this guy sings it.'
