Eric Dane's Widow Spotted at the Place Where He Spent His Final Days
Rebecca Gayheart's latest outing in Los Angeles carried the quiet weight of a chapter closing, as cameras caught the actress with specific items in her hands outside a familiar Hollywood property tied to the final days of the person she once called her husband.
A quiet Los Angeles street has suddenly become the center of an emotional moment tied to the late Eric Dane. And when his widow, Rebecca Gayheart, appeared there this week, what she was carrying immediately caught everyone's attention.
The actress was photographed stepping out of the very place where Eric spent his final days, a location filled with memories that fans are only now learning more about.

A Quiet Visit That Quickly Drew Attention
But the real story unfolds in the photos…
Earlier this week, Rebecca was spotted outside the Los Angeles home where the late "Grey's Anatomy" star had been living before his death. The images show her moving several personal belongings. Among the things she carried was a box labeled "Eric Yearbooks Kids Photos." It's a simple phrase, but one that says a lot.

The label suggests deeply personal keepsakes belonging to Eric and his family, including memories connected to his and Rebecca's daughters, Billie and Georgia Dane. The photos show Rebecca carefully gathering the items, as if preserving a piece of his life.
In other images taken during the outing, Rebecca was also seen carrying a guitar case, another object believed to belong to the late actor. The quiet moment felt almost symbolic; a final gathering of memories from the place where his life's last chapter unfolded.
The Unexpected Hollywood Ties Behind the Residence
The residence itself also holds a surprising Hollywood connection. As reported by Page Six, Eric had been staying at a home owned by Johnny Depp. The arrangement came after Eric was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a devastating illness he battled publicly during the final chapter of his life.
According to insiders, Johnny quietly offered his friend a place to stay with a "pay-what-you-can" arrangement. "Eric [had] one less thing to worry about," a source explained.
The insider added that Eric was "living basically rent-free in one of the homes Johnny owns above the Sunset Strip," with Johnny telling him to contribute whatever he could or couldn't.
The gesture revealed a deeply compassionate side of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star, who reportedly wanted to ease the financial burden on his friend, whom he met through mutual pals years ago, during the difficult illness.
A Battle That Changed Everything for the Actor
Eric passed away on February 19, 2026, at the age of 53 after what his family described as a "courageous battle with ALS." They confirmed this in a statement.
Throughout his diagnosis, Eric had also become an advocate for awareness and research, determined to help others facing the same disease. Behind the public tributes, however, his personal life remained equally moving.
Rebecca had filed for divorce from the actor in 2018 after 14 years of marriage…but the story didn't end there. Last year (2025), she withdrew the divorce petition after Eric's ALS diagnosis, choosing instead to stand beside him during the most difficult chapter of his life.
Together, the two shared two daughters: Billie and Georgia. Billie, heartbreakingly, turned 16 just days after her father's death.
A Project He Was Determined to Finish
In the months leading up to his passing, Eric had also been working on something deeply meaningful for his family.
His posthumous memoir, "My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments," is scheduled to be released on November 3. According to Penguin Random House, the actor made "the deliberate decision" to finish the book after his ALS diagnosis. The publisher explained that Eric "wanted his daughters and readers to have these words."
"Publishing it as planned allows him to continue speaking, in his own voice, with the clarity and courage that defined him. He was working on the manuscript right up to the end," the press release noted.
The Message He Left Behind for His Daughters
Additionally, before his death, the "Euphoria" star recorded a message for his daughters in the Netflix series "Famous Last Words." In the interview, he shared a final piece of advice for the teenagers he loved most.
"Fight with every ounce of your being and with dignity," he said. "When you face challenges, health or otherwise, fight."
Then came the message that left viewers around the world heartbroken:
"You are my everything. Good night. I love you. Those are my last words."
And now, the quiet images of Rebecca gathering his belongings from the place where he spent his final days feel even more poignant. Each item she carried — the box of photos, the guitar — appears to represent pieces of a life that touched millions. But those photos are only part of the story.
Just one day after Eric Dane passed away, Rebecca Gayheart was also seen stepping out of the same Los Angeles home for the very first time, a moment that captured the raw grief of the days immediately following his death.

A Somber First Sighting
On a Friday, Rebecca was spotted wrapped in a beige trench coat as she stepped out of the Los Angeles home where Eric had been living before his passing, according to Page Six.

She wore glasses and pulled her hair into an updo, carrying a black leather handbag as she exited the property on February 20, 2026.
Although the actress and model did not speak to the photographers or share any real words online, she had chosen a beautiful but bittersweet way to remember Eric.
The Stories She Chose To Share
In the days following Eric's death, Rebecca has been consistently posting Instagram Stories filled with memories of him and their daughters, Billie and Georgia, on her Instagram. Instead of statements, she let photographs tell the story.
In one particularly touching image, the family is gathered around several birthday cakes for Eric. Georgia sits on Rebecca's lap, while Billie stands behind him, capturing a warm and joyful celebration now frozen in time.

In yet another memory, the girls are younger, playing outside in the snow with their dad, and Eric looks genuinely happy as they spend carefree time together.

One of the loveliest images is in black and white, showing Eric in a garden wrapped around his girls. The eldest sits on his shoulders while the youngest rests between his crossed legs, all of them caught in pure, playful connection.

And finally, one image features just Rebecca and Eric at an event, dressed in casual elegance. Even though they had been separated (not divorced), these uploads quietly show that Rebecca still treasured Eric.

Furthermore, each memory feels deliberate and reminds followers that, beyond the fame, he was first and foremost a father.
Support From Friends And Fans
As tributes after his demise continued, a GoFundMe was created to support Rebecca and their daughters.
The page states, "It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of Eric Dane after a hard-fought battle with ALS, leaving behind his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world."
It also reads, "As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric's friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs."
As it stands now, the fundraiser has raised over $400,000 of its $500,000 goal. And while friends rallied financially, someone else was sharing memories in her own way.
Another Stream Of Memories
Eric's girlfriend, Director and Photographer Janell Shirtcliff, has also been active on Instagram following his passing. Like Rebecca, she did not release a written statement, but she has posted Stories. Some of her uploads showed Eric alone in candid moments, offering several glimpses of him from her perspective.

Most, however, show the two of them together. In one intimate shot, Eric kisses her head as they stand on steps outside a house, capturing a quiet display of affection.

Two women chose photographs over press releases, and these glimpses of Eric's life can be the loudest and best tributes of all.
But it's obvious that Rebecca had a much longer history with Eric. Their relationship never fit a simple label, and she said so herself. However, it lasted over two decades, through marriage, separation, a divorce filing that never went through, and hard times that brought them back together.

The pair met in 2003 and married several years later, eventually welcoming their two daughters. What unraveled between them, and what held, is a story that played out in courthouses and red carpets and hospital waiting rooms.

When Things Fell Apart
The marriage was not without turbulence. By Rebecca's account, a lot went wrong over the years. The two separated in September 2017 after 14 years together. In February 2018, she filed for divorce from Eric, citing irreconcilable differences.
In a statement at the time, he said the decision was made in the best interest of their family and that the two would continue co-parenting their daughters, Billie, then 7, and Georgia, then 6.
Rebecca requested joint legal and physical custody of both girls. Notably, the date of separation was listed as "TBD" in the filing.
In the years that followed, both dated other people. By November 2024, Eric had been linked to Priya Jain, and on several occasions, the two were spotted on casual strolls in Los Angeles.

The Divorce That Never Finalized
Despite the filing, the divorce never went through. In March 2025, nearly seven years after Rebecca first filed, she moved to dismiss the case. Eric signed off, and the Los Angeles court closed it. They remained, technically, married.
A month later, she addressed their status directly. "We are best of friends. We are really close. We are great coparents," she told E! News in April 2025.

Rebecca added, "We were married for, I mean, we are still married, but together for 15 years, and we had two beautiful kids, so I think that's a successful relationship, and that's how we look at it."
The very next day, Eric publicly announced his ALS diagnosis.

A Relationship Without a Simple Label
In December 2025, Rebecca gave the fullest picture yet of what their relationship actually looked like. By then, they had lived apart for eight years, both had dated other people, and yet the bond between them had never fully dissolved.
She described it plainly:
"We separated, but we never got a divorce; we were about to and then we didn't. We haven't lived in the same home for eight years; he's dated other people, I've dated someone. It's a very complicated relationship, one that's confusing for people. Our love may not be romantic, but it's a familial love."
His Biggest Supporter
When Eric called Rebecca from a doctor's office in San Francisco to tell her he had ALS, she was at home with their youngest daughter. She described the moment as devastating, and the two wept together over the phone.
In her essay, she also recalled Eric exhibiting early symptoms of the disease, such as struggling to use his chopsticks while eating and dropping food.
In the months that followed, she became his most consistent source of support. The actor revealed as much himself in a June 2025 interview, calling her his biggest champion and the person he leaned on most. "We have managed to become better friends and better parents," he said.

He also walked his first red carpet since his diagnosis that same month, this time with Janell at the Los Angeles premiere of "Countdown" on June 18, 2025.

Rebecca, for her part, was equally clear about where she stood. "Eric knows that I am always going to want the best for him," she said.
Whatever the state of their romantic lives, the actress intended to show up for him through his illness and to show their daughters what that looked like.
