Carrie Underwood reveals what really happened to her face after a nasty fall
Since the 35-year-old country music star shared the news that she required more than 50 stitches on her face after cutting it open in an awful fall, she kept her face hidden from her fans and the media, making everybody very curious and concerned.
Back then, Underwood explained that she ‘might look a little different’ after she recovered from her facial injury, and she asked them to be patient and understand what she was going through.
Finally, on April 19, Underwood gave her first face-to-face interview since her return to the public eye at the ACM Awards. The star sat down with famous country music radio host, Bobby Bones, to discuss her life, family, and career.
As Country Music Nation reported, the radio host didn’t refrain from asking her about what exactly happened regarding her fall and much commented facial injury, which took place just before the Christmas holidays.
The first time she mentioned she had been in a nasty fall, she only revealed that she had broken a wrist, and she had to undergo surgery to fix it, joking about how she was going to ‘set off airport metal detectors from now on,’ and thanking her doctors.
It was only at a later post that Underwood revealed she had also suffered a very serious injury on her face, and with the entire recovery ahead of her after getting numerous stitches she was very worried about not looking quite like herself in the end.
Underwood explained to Bones that she was taking her dogs out when she tripped and missed a step, landing on her wrist and face.
‘If I had fallen anywhere else I would be perfectly fine, but it was one step that messed everything up. I thought I just busted my lip when I walked outside. I went to go survey the damage and was like, ‘Oh no!'’ she recalled.
The singer ended up with a broken wrist and her face cut open between her nose and her lips, also damaging one of her teeth. She feared the worst about her face injury, and that undermined her confidence, making her remain out of sight for many months.
‘I was at a point where I didn’t know how things were going to end up. I didn’t know what was going to go on. I didn’t know what it was going to heal like,’ Underwood admitted.Fortunately, she healed just fine and her scar is barely noticeable.
