Discoid lupus erythematosus is a type of chronic skin condition that attacks the skin above a person’s neck.
The effects of the disease are inflammation and soring.
Up until today, the cause of this genetic condition remains unknown to the public.
Experts have claimed that the cause could be because the immune system in the body mistakenly attacks the normal skin.
A few symptoms of the disease are grazes and scarring on different parts of the body, face, ears, and scalp. There is also a slight chance that the condition can also attack the diagnosed person’s internal organs.
To find out if one has this disease, one must take a skin biopsy.
People with the disease use cortisone ointments and shots to decrease the progression of lesions and the appearance of the disease on the body.
