Oliver Hudson reveals what stopped him from being cast as Jack Pearson in 'This Is Us'
The 41-year-old Oliver Hudson is most well-known for his roles in Rules of Engagement, Nashville, and Scream Queens. He is currently in Splitting Up Together.
Hudson was in the studio with the LadyGang podcast team and explained why he turned down the role of Jack Pearson in This Is Us. The part was given to Milo Ventimiglia.
As reported by Inquisitr, Hudson read for the role and the showrunners liked what he had to offer. They asked him to return to the set for a reading with the leading actress, Mandy Moore.
Hudson had to turn down their invitation because he had a 10-day fishing trip planned! He explained on the LadyGang podcast that fishing is one of his greatest passions in life.
His agent suggested that he cancel the trip because 'this was a big thing,' and the show executives 'really liked' his audition, but Hudson still refused.
Hudson admitted that the show really touched him and he knew it was going to be a big hit. Some part of him regrets turning it down because he "rarely [likes] anything."
“I thought it was very well written and new and a little different. Interesting.”

Ventimiglia wasn't who the showrunners initially had in mind, but they were still impressed with his performance, even though he was too 'dreamy and handsome' for the role of Jack.
He made a big impression when he arrived for the audition with long hair, a beard, and dressed in motorcycle attire. He turned out to be perfect for the part.
Fans of Hudson can look forward to his upcoming appearance in Medal of Honor. The film is currently in post-production and will be released in 2019.
