Mariska Hargitay's eldest son August looks a lot like his star mom in a recent sweet photo

Mariska Hargitay is the daughter of Hollywood royalty, a successful actress, and an impassioned activist, but her most beloved role is that of mom to her three kids.

The Law and Order star is married to Peter Hermann, who is also a screen actor. Hargitay and Hermann met on the set of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit back in November 2001, and fell for each other.

Hermann asked her to marry him in 2004, and the couple wed on August 28 of that year at the Unitarian Historical Chapel in Santa Barbara in front of 200 guests.

According to People, the couple had their first son, August, in 2006, then went on to adopt two more children in 2011; first their daughter, Amaya, now 6, followed by their youngest son, Andrew, now 5.

At the time when Hargitay was about to give birth to August, she was already 42 years old. Because of her age, she struggled with her pregnancy. Luckily, everything went well after all and he turned out to be the exact replica of his famous mother.

For Hargitay who lost her biological mum when she was barely four, the word mother means more to her than the woman who births one.

Mickey Hargitay, her father remarried Ellen Siano and she quickly became the new mother to Mariska and her siblings.

This childhood experience formed a picture that had taken roots in her mind that you can be a mother without the biological connection.

The blessed couple believe they are the happiest parents in the world. Aside from bringing their kids on the red carpet from time to time, Mariska constantly gives her fans little glimpses of their home life on social media.

On February 24, Peter and Mariska took their three beautiful children to watch the New York Knicks take on the Boston Celtics at NYC's Madison Square Garden, and their fans are still not over this adorable outing.

Not only did the family show off their team spirit as they collectively cheered from the sidelines, but Andrew and Amaya were as cute as can be dressing oversized matching Knicks t-shirts. They are truly a beautiful family.
