Couple shares kidnapping story from their engagement trip
Jennifer and Frank Massabki decided to go to Mexico for their engagement trip. When they arrived, they were taken by two men with weapons and were held for ransom.
The couple went to the country in May 2017. At the time, they were freshly engaged and were looking for a place to get married for later that year.
When they arrived, they rented a car from an American company located in Mexico City. As they were traveling, another car rear-ended them.
Frank stepped outside the car to have a conversation with the driver. When he got out, as revealed by the police report obtained from Mexico City police, he saw that two men were holding weapons and quickly took him and Jennifer in their car.
They were forced to remove all of their jewelry and Frank was blindfolded the whole time until they arrived at another location.
Since the couple was fluent in Spanish, they understood all the things the assailants were saying.
Jennifer, according to Market Watch, recalled that one attacker said, “This is going to get a lot worse for you.”
Afterward, the attackers told Jennifer and Frank to think of people to call in the United States for some ransom money.
Hours passed and since then, they were physically attacked and Jennifer experienced a failed attempted rape. Finally, they were able to escape.
Frank was able to find help from the police after running away. They returned to get Jennifer, who was found hiding in a tree from the assailants.
After filing a police report, the pair flew back to the states to receive medical aid. Jennifer had to have an emergency surgery for her broken nose.
In the end, Frank and Jennifer wish to tell their story to warn their fellow Americans to think twice before visiting the country.
