Mary J. Blige bears striking resemblance to her mother in new family photo

Mary J. Blige has been riding the rollercoaster of success this year, as she got her first ever Academy Award nomination, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a divorce from her cheating ex, Kendu Isaacs. Blige has stated she owns her strength to her mother, and she recently shared a beautiful photo with the lady showing off how much they look alike.

Celebritist was lurking around Mary J. Blige’s Instagram account and we stumbled with a beautiful photo the R&B singer shared in order to congratulate her beautiful mother on her birthday, and we have to say that, as many fans noticed, their resemblance is uncanny.

Mary and her mother, Cora Blige, share the same facial features, eyes and beautiful smile, and like her daughter, Mrs. Cora knows how to rock a stylish outfit and hair. In the photo, Mary is wearing a white pantsuit with a corset while her mother is rocking a black lace dress with her hair beautifully arranged in a braided crown.

The 47-years-old proud daughter sent a heartfelt message to her mom on her special day, writing:

“Happy Birthday to this beautiful Queen!!! My Mother!!! I love you so much and I’m so grateful for all of your unconditional love that you have given me!!!”

Speaking to the Associated Press last year amid the release of her last studio album “Strength of a Woman,” Blige revealed that her mother, who endured domestic violence from Mary’s father and had to raise her kids alone, is her biggest inspiration in life.

She said:

“Who inspires me to be strong is my mom. She’s a very strong woman, she’s always been strong. She raised us alone, a single parent mom.”

Mary J. Blige faced one of the most difficult moments in her life in 2016 when she discovered her husband and manager of 13 years had been not only cheating on her but also spending her money on his mistress.

She filed for divorce and immersed herself in work, recording her new album and the movie “Mudbound,” where she revealed that her sadness was of use to bring her character to life. And her performance turned out to be so amazing, that she earned her first ever Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Now, Blige is living her best life and enjoying the high of success without forgetting to be thankful with her mother and family, and we’re glad to know that the singer remains to be a humble and caring daughter.
