How Christina and Tarek El Moussa's divorce will impact new season of 'Flip or Flop'
HGTV’s Flip or Flop premiered its seventh season of the show yesterday, but before that, the main stars opened up about the series. Tarek and Christina El Moussa divorced in 2016.
The stars also happened to be co-hosts of the home renovation series. Initially, they weren’t so keen on carrying on with the show together, but they eventually relented according to Country Living.
Working together on Flip and Flop has been ‘beyond awkward’ according to Christina El Moussa. The star also admitted that the new season might be a little awkward for viewers to watch too.
Despite the awkwardness, it seems the two working together as a divorced couple has its perks. Tarek shared that the new season was going to be great and that the fans were going to love it.
The star even went as far as speculating that this might be their best season yet. Although he did confess that he hasn't watched old seasons of the show in a while.
His reason for not watching them is because they brought back triggers from a past time that was awful. “So I'm actually looking forward to watching season 7 because I'm happy, I'm healthy, and it's exciting and different," Tarek added.
"We speak our minds and we say what we want to say. We don't always have to agree anymore—we're not married."

In the past, the star battled two types of cancer and a debilitating back injury. However, now he’s feeling the best he's ever felt.
Despite this, there’s another reason why Tarek is excited about the new season.
He revealed that because of the divorced, he and his ex-wife were now more real than before. Christina agreed with his sentiments by sharing that the difference now was that they were both more willing to fight for what we wanted in the houses.
She confessed that he was more involved with design in this season and made his opinions more known than in previous ones.
Even though their divorce appears to have yielded good results, things weren’t always easy. The Hollywood Reporter shared Discovery Content Chief Kathleen Finch’s opinion on the matter recently.
She confessed that when the two broke up they had to stop shooting.
Finch shared that both parties hadn’t wanted to carry on working together. She revealed that after a little while, they did go back and admitted that they both wanted to keep making the show as a divorced couple.
The content chief shared that despite their resolve to work together; they weren’t always in good moods towards one another. However, Tarek and Christina were fine with letting their real lives show on the air.
Finch believed the new season would be bigger and better because of their new relationship. The new season will also allow fans to get an inside look at how the former couple has adjusted to balancing their business as well as co-parenting their two children as exes.
Christina said being open about their divorce would probably make good television. However, the main point of the show won’t be lost.
Every episode will still feature amazing house transformations including a big remodel of a million dollar home in Orange County that Tarek called his personal favorite.
