'Dukes of Hazzard' star John Schneider reportedly facing jail time

Having failed to comply with the court’s orders regarding alimony towards his former wife of 21 years, John Schneider has been sentenced to 3 days in prison.

As reported by TMZ, 58-year-old actor John Schneider will be behind bars for three days in the Los Angeles County jail.

The sentencing took place on Monday, in which it was found that Schneider had not adhered to the agreement of spousal support towards his former wife Elvira, despite the order of the court.

In the earlier trial that took place in February this year, the actor was given a month’s time to pay out the alimony, which is said to have accumulated to over $150,000.

He was also ordered to clear off tax dues with regard to his property in Apple Valley within the deadline, and transfer the ownership of the property to his former wife.

Elvira had tried to hold Schneider in contempt of court, however, the judgment was postponed until March 2018. In the hearing, Schneider was asked to be transparent about his finances.

Back in September 2016, the court had ordered Schneider to pay out an alimony of $18,911 every month to Elvira, against her original request of a monthly $31,000.

Elvira had filed for divorce in 2014, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason, and had put in her request for spousal support as part of the settlement.

It marked the end of the second marriage for Schneider, who had previously been married to former Miss America Tawney Little.

Schneider tied the knot with Elvira in 1993, and the duo raised two children together.

However, the couple drifted apart, and Elvira stated publicly that his finances began to crumble owing to his obsession with making low-quality movies and TV shows.

4 years since the divorce papers were filed, Elvira is still awaiting her settlement from her former spouse. And since Schneider has repeatedly failed to deliver on the orders of the court, the star will have to spend 3 days behind bars.
