The tiny Princess Charlotte looks just like her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth

Royal watchers noticed that little Princess Charlotte bears a striking resemblance to photographs taken of her great-grandmother as a child, reported People.com.

A lovely black and white photo of the Queen back in the days when she was Princess Elizabeth was posted on Twitter alongside a snap of Princess Charlotte and the resemblance is astounding.

The two share the same blue eyes, the same nose, and the same smile. Even their hairstyles are similar, and in another photo, Princess Charlotte wears the same type of dainty smocked frock with a peter-pan collar her great-grandmother used to wear.

In photos of the Queen at an even younger age, the resemblance to Princess Charlotte is uncanny,

"Her Majesty underwent a short, planned procedure to treat a cataract last month.”

The resemblance became even more startling when the two were photographed wearing dark glasses after the Trooping the Colour on the Queen's 92nd birthday.

For Charlotte, the snazzy shades were a question of fashion, but for the Queen, they were a necessity. According to Buckingham Palace spokesmen, Her Majesty underwent eye surgery in May in order to remove the cataracts that were dimming her vision.

A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye and causes blurry vision. The treatment is surgery, a procedure which has become common and very safe.

After the surgery, the eyes become more sensitive to the light, and patients are advised to use UV-blocking sunglasses and a hat.

Queen Elizabeth has been following doctor's orders and has been photographed wearing dark sunglasses during recent events.

The Queen was admired for her striking looks and perfect figure as a young woman, and Princess Charlotte may grow to resemble her Royal great-grandmother even more as time goes on.

The Queen was born in London, her parents were the Duke and Duchess of York, and her grandfather was King George VI.

No-one dreamed the little girl would become queen, as her father was the younger brother to the Prince of Wales. When Princess Elizabeth was 10, her uncle King Edward abdicated, and her father became king.
