A look back at 'BGT' mother-son duo's chilling rendition of 'Say Something'
The singing mother-and-son duo Mel and Jamie have been bombarded with offers since the blockbuster finale of Britain's Got Talent.
The Welsh pair from Bridgend ended their streak on Britain's Got Talent with the 12th place after receiving 1.9% of votes out of a total of 2.5 million votes but they are still in demand.
45-year-old Melanie Bell shared that she was excited about the future because they received a number of offers. She shared that people wrote to her on social media that they were eager to watch them live and buy their albums.
Mel joined in the competition on the last minute to merely provide backing vocals to her son Jamie after he broke his collarbone and was unable to play the guitar.
The duo performed a mesmerizing rendition of Say Something and wooed the audience and the judges alike with their impeccable harmonies. The pair continued their journey to the finals with their unparalleled chemistry.
Mel was evidently proud of her son performing effortlessly on the big stage. Her proud gaze at her son did not go unnoticed whenever the duo performed together on the stage.
She shared that the show helped Jamie build his self-confidence. He was bullied in school for having a slight squint in his eye. The bullying had almost resulted in Jamie quitting music.
During the finals, the then-16-year-old Jamie had to sit for the GCSE exams every day. The teenager has proven his mettle in singing but also loves to play the piano and the guitar.
“Jamie is really bright and is planning to study maths and science next year, but now he’s wondering if he should take music.”

Mel said that the mother-son duo would continue to perform together but would restrict their show business aspirations to school holidays and weekends on account of Jamie's education.
