Actress Millie Bobby Brown left Twitter on Wednesday. Her departure came after she was subjected to homophobic memes on the social network.

The star has been a supporter of the LGBTIQ community and leaving Twitter appears to be her way of speaking up against homophobia. E! News, however, reported another Twitter account for the actress which is strictly pro-LGBTIQ.

The @MillieBBrown Twitter account was recently abandoned by its user Millie Bobby Brown, 14. The move comes after the Stranger Things star’s photos were turned into memes depicting her as a violent homophobe.

Some of the images garnered thousands of reactions. The meme-generators took various selfies and photos of Brown and added homophobic statements and slurs.

The actress is a public supporter of GLAAD’s Together movement. She has also previously voiced support for the Parkland shooting survivors.

The reason behind the memes remains unclear. However, several Twitter users have claimed that the images originated as an inside joke for LGBTIQ tweeters.

On that same day, the actress shared a video of herself on Instagram and captioned it ‘good vibes only.’ Until the recent deactivation, the teenage actress was active on the social media platform.

She would frequently post about the events of her day, political statements, and photos of her relationship with YouTuber and musician Jacob Sartorius. Neither she nor Sartorius has commented on social media about Brown’s account deletion.

Despite this, Brown’s secondary, anti-bullying Twitter account, @MillieStopsHate, is still live. However, the last tweet shared by the account was on December 12, last year.

That account’s bio reads, ‘I want this account to share love and positivity. Let's stop bullying.’ Brown will return to play Eleven in the upcoming third season of Netflix’s Stranger Things.
