Honey Boo Boo talks about her relationship with estranged dad
The 12-year-old Honey Honey Boo, whose real name is Alana Thompson, rose to fame as a child beauty pageant when she was six years old.
She appeared in her mother, Mama June's reality show, Toddlers & Tiara, and landed her own reality television, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, in 2012.
The show was canceled in October 2014 and the last episode aired on April 21, 2017.
Mama June and Alana sat down for an interview with People and said that the onus is her father, Mike Thompson, to reach out to Alana
Thompson, also known as Sugar Bear, doesn't have a relationship with Alana, and only calls her 'once in a while.' Some months, he doesn't even make contact.
“He doesn’t really call me that much, which is kind of sad because he’s supposed to be my father and I think if he’s my father, he should call me more.”

Mama June added that there is "so much hurt from the past" which brought the family to the point they are at today and that it is up to Sugar Bear to "step up and be a father."
Since parting ways with Sugar Bear, Mama June has found love again. She admits to losing hope in men and that she had been single for a while before meeting her new love.
Mama June has since returned to TV with a new reality show, Mama June From Not to Hot, which follows her weight loss journey.
She lost 300 pounds and the first season documents her journey from weighing 460 pounds to the new Mama June, weighing 160 pounds.
The second season aired earlier this year, and a release date for season 3 has not yet been confirmed. To stay up to date, follow our Twitter account, AmoMama USA.
