'Dynasty' star hospitalized after threatening to shoot herself
The 56-year-old actress Heather Locklear is most famously known for her portrayal of Sammy Jo Carrington in Dynasty.
She was hospitalized on Sunday after threatening to take her life. The call was placed by a concerned family member, who TMZ later learned was her mother.
Her parents went to her home on Sunday afternoon to check up on her, and Locklear responded violently. She tried to choke her mother, and also lashed out at her father.
The matter was reported to the Venture County Fire and Sheriff's Department after a 911 call was placed, and Locklear was hospitalized for a psych evaluation.
Locklear wanted to find a gun to shoot herself. Investigating officers confirmed that the incident was of a medical nature and that no criminal charges were brought against her.
As reported by Variety, her publicist simply said that the actress is on a hiatus, but refuse to disclose additional information.
This incident follows only four months after Locklear's home was raided by police after she threatened to shoot an officer, People reported.
She was arrested in February, for domestic violence and three counts of battering a police officer. The raid took place less two weeks later.
Officers had cause for concern because a firearm was registered in Locklear's name, but they didn't find any guns at her home or on the premises.
The actress was later released on $20,000 bail. Locklear has a history of substance abuse, and her family had been trying to convince her to book into a rehabilitation center.
The actress rose to fame when she landed the part on Dynasty in 1981 and portrayed the role of Sammy Jo for eight years before moving on to Melrose Place.
Her work on the show earned her four consecutive Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress, and she remained with the show from 1993 until 1999.
Her most recent roles include eight episodes on Too Close to Home, ten episodes during season three for Franklin and Bash, as well as a brief appearance in Fresh Of The Boat in 2017.
